The light flat and fast post had me looking at some of the 6mm options.
I have thought of getting a 240 wb off and on.
Then after looking around the 6mm rem ai looks interesting.
Do you think the ai version is worth it?
No I don’t reload but my brother in law has thought the grate nephew how to and the ammo I have shot of his has been good.
Thinking of 100-105 gr bullets. I have been using the federal 80gr blue box load for years.
Now if so the rifle to chase cut ruger tang safety
Remington 700 heavy barrel

I own one. It is my deer rifle. I will never do another Ackley. Ever. Fire forming is a pain. With today's powders, there is rarely enough gain to warrant the extra effort to go to an ackley. And I would certainly not do it again with a case that Lapua or Norma does not make brass for.

Go with a 6mm Creedmoor (a case full of H4831SC and a 105-108 gr bullet works awesome for me) , a 6mm PRC if you are willing to neck down a 6.5 PRC case (Easy to do), 6x47 lapua. All are fast and have proven to be accurate. 6MM Creedmoor can be had in plenty of quality factory rifles AND you can buy ammo for it if your nephew proves to be unreliable.

For new players looking for generous bonuses and promotions, Crown Casino Online stands out in Australia. I recently joined, and the welcome offers were impressive, giving me extra credits to explore different games. Beyond bonuses, their game selection is vast, including slots and classic table games. For anyone in Australia seeking exciting new experiences in online casinos with appealing rewards, this platform is definitely worth checking out.
The AI version can be worth it mainly if you’re reloading, since that’s where it really shines. If you’re relying on factory ammo, the standard 6mm Remington usually makes more sense and is simpler. For 100–105 gr bullets both will work well, but availability and convenience might end up being the deciding factors more than raw performance.

I have a couple 6 AIs. I like the chamber and throat design, very accurate. Carried one this year for pronghorn (took 3 between dispatching wounded ones and my personal hunting) and liked the performance so much I carried it during mule deer season, took a nice plains whitetail with it.

I worked up to 3400fps with my 100 grain Sierra tgk, by far the most accurate load fell at 3190fps. Single digit ES and .25 moa. Cool, but that performance is easily obtained with a 6 creed. Talking to others with 6ais and 6x284s I’ve came to the conclusion those long vld 6mm bullets don’t like to be pushed past 3200.

75 grain and 85 grain bullets will cook out of the rifles very accurately. I think I’m getting 3770 with some 75 grain hollow points from a rechambered 22” 243 barrel, I think that’s where the big 6s shine.

If you do not handled you have ZERO business getting into wildcats.

I would just shoot a factory cartridge.

What would be the point of fire forming a bunch of brass, and not having absolute quality control over what someone else loaded for you?

I don't trust anyone with my life enough to hand load. Especially nephew type situation.

Shoot a 25-06 or a 6mm Creedmoor. Easy button. Or even a 25 Creedmoor.

I've owned several 244 AI (6mmAI) and have shot everything from prairie dogs to deer and antelope.
Even shot one cow elk with my a 244AI I built 50 years ago that I still have. Shot lots of Coyotes and Bobcats with it using a Speer bullet they no longer make.
Built a 6mm Creedmoor 10 years ago and its ok but once we experimented with the 22 Creedmoor Using high BC Berger bullets, I really have no use for the 6mm or 6.5 Creedmoor. The 6.5 PRC is as good as it gets in 6.5.
I really like Ackley Improved cases in general, but if you don't reload then maybe the 6mm Creedmoor
would make more sense for you.

I have a rifle chambered in 6mm DGS. I bought it from the gunsmith that designed the cartridge but have only used it as a varmint rifle. Cases are made from standard 6mm Remington fired in the chamber.

I have not worked with the factory 6mm enough to know how much more velocity the DGS can achieve, if any. I was able to get 3,900+ with a 75 grain bullet with no pressure signs but settled on an average of 3,770 FPS. I have many Winchester cases that have been loaded over 6 times and still going strong. I don't recall running the factory 6mm over the chronograph to compare but I will check the archives.

For me it is as easy to feed my wildcat as any standard standard cartridge but you are definitely at a disadvantage if you don't load your own. The 6mm DGS is pictured next to a factory 6mm Remington.

If you already have a 6mm REM and it works why change it. The extra 100fps isn't going to make much difference in the field.
If you want to go faster forget the Weatherby and go 6mm-06 or the 6mm-284. Both these will give you all the speed you need with the forme just needing a reamer run into the barrel

Is the cm faster than the 6mm Remington? I was looking to try to get 240 speed but cheaper.

I guess I will stick to the 257 wb for the speed then
And leave the 6 as they are.

What I was really thinking was maybe around 3300 with the 105 - 107 gr
Above the factory rated 3100 for a 100gr
If federal will go back to loading the 80gr at 3450 factory stated
I would just use that load it’s been real good to me.
Only have about 500 left.

Also that’s why I would get a wildcat and not reload if I did it found a load I liked
Probably would get 1000 or more loaded.

Hello,

I saw your post selling left hand rifles. Do you have any additional pics of the .416 Rem mag?

Thank you.
