I'm looking to add a 416 Rem Mag bolt action and have a hankering for a full stock. Need reliability and functionality and am interested in opinions. There are pricier options like Cooper's mannlicher model or maybe just restock a new Model 70?

The restocked model 70 is my choice. Ability to pick the wood blank is worth it to me. Also have several model 70s of various vintage and the newest is as good as or better than any.

I am inclined to suggest the restock as well. One caution would be to find someone who has bedded a real magnum before. Just the slightest bedding gaps, which would likely never become an issue in a "deer" rifle, can quickly turn into cracks in a hard recoiling rifle like a .416. Cross bolts, if utilized, need to be placed correctly, etc. I love the mannlicher look as well. It is harder to pull it off elegantly on a big bore, but there are guys who can do it.

Be careful of hunting Chewore South, the area has been decimated.....

Curious about this. I hunted Chewore South with D&Y in September and they did tell me it was there last hunt there.

Which outfits shot it out?
