.375 should be banned from buffalo hunts!

@spike.t
The Hilux seat seem to be just bolted to the floor. I've sat in mini minors with higher driver seats.
The Hilux when you hit a bump it feels like the floor pan is hitting you in the arse the seats are that low.
Bob
The Nissan 720 pickup were not much better.
But being 6 6 that stright to the petal and being able to slide the 720 seat back to tuch the little jump seat in the back worked ok
Until you hit a hole

nice double.One trigger ??

That's like saying use enough 243. To me nothing you do to a land crab can make it the equal of a Nissan Patrol. Don't get me started on the Toyota HiLux. The clown that designed that built the vehicle then decided on the seating. The driver's seat is that low your legs are almost straight out when you sit in it. The ergonomics for the driver leave a lot to be desired.

Bob you are crazy saying this sort of stuff, you can’t beat Toyota - especially Land Cruiser & a second runner up Hilux !

@Sarg
Being a Nissan owner ( aka Toyota recovery vehicle) we love paying out in ANY other brand especially Toyota.

No calibre will offset poor shot placement. What is true, though, the larger calibre increases the permissible margin of error i.e an iffy shot has a bigger impact.

Also, comparing 400g projectile in 416 to 300g in 375 is 2 very significant variables, caliber & projectile

The 375 probably ranks in the top 10 calibres for taking big & dangerous game. I recall seeing elephant cull footage in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), dropping them with single shots using old FN's in 308

Well, I haven't gotten to Africa yet, but considering the huge number of elephants that old Walt Bell took with the .275 Rigby I'd say that the old .375 with the proper bullet can take anything..........I'd give it my approval.

The problem with Bell.
Is he could take birds out of the air with a rifle.
And 10 zebra on the run with head shots from a handgun.
How many hunters today can do that.

I believe very few have the skill of Bell.

Before this deer season is over, I will post a picture of a dead deer in the back of my Tacoma with my Sako .243 laying across it lol

As the years go by..........skills magically improve due to the legend effect.

I don't believe everything Bell said and there are very experienced elephant hunters who also have some doubts about whether everything always went as well as he tell it. Bell and his elephants is a topic in itself. He is still very often quoted when it comes to choosing a cartridge for elephant hunting, above all by hunter who have never shot an elephant before.

I am sure most books have some embellishments.
I have never shot a elephant. But I would rather something bigger than a 7x57.

There are some men with extraordinary skills.
And because they can do something dosent mean the ordinary can.
That’s why I bring that up.
I have seen a old man that could shoot quail down with a rifle. But that man made quite a few old 32 rf smooth from shooting.
And I have seen the tapes of Fred Bear shoting birds out of the air with a bow.

Because they could dosent mean I can.

If they could.

Shooting quail with a rifle?

One lucky shot, maybe........not a thing that could be done on command.

And the Fred Bear archery shots I've see were all easy shots on slowly rising pheasants.

I'd like to see him try it on ruffed grouse or doves. :)

Sorry, I know there are some great trick shots around who spend all their time practicing.........but they are not really relevant to hunting.

Hunting is a pursuit that requires practical skills in shooting and more skill in tactics.

And the .375 will take anything that walks the earth.

Damnit man, do you have to shit on everything?

I saw that him take a limit more than once
That was 12 here. It took all day but he could do it on mostly flying away shots.
Have also seen him
Take 4 deer running with a rifle all neck shots.
Once he was on a horse and the other 3 out of a truck driving. Agree not well looked on today but completely legal here in 1982. And kinda common back then dog hunting.

It was may dad’s uncle. Dad said he was all ways shooting when he could.

Some people can do things trick or not
And there personal luck plays apart in it.

And I agree 100% a hunter should not really on trick shots

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
