My .400 Whelen shoots and feeds the 360 NF very well at 450/400 Nitro speeds. To shoot the 400 grainers will need some throat work done and feeding may also need some work.

Anybody shot buff with a 350-360 class bullet from a 450/400 or similar?

If so, how was the performance.

Thanks in advance

It’ll be interesting to see what folks say but it does have basically the same SD as the 286 grain .366 bullets and 300 grain 375 caliber bullets. .300+ SD at 450-400 velocities alone ought to justify using them

I would stick to 400gr that is what makes them perform at the low velocities.....

I’ve shot 5 x Giraffe bulls, two Eland bulls, 2 buffalo, one cow, and one bul with 350gr Swift A-frame from the .416 Ruger at 2400fps.

Results were devastating. I would’ve liked to go 400gr, but the cannelure is the same distance from the tip, making for a very compressed load, when at a length that it feeds smooth and crimps in the cannelure.

In the future ill use 400gr seated out somewhat further out, but the 350gr did the trick.
