30-06 custom solids

Does anyone have a recommendation for a company that can load up cutting edge solids and a matching weight soft for me? I am headed back to Africa to try and finish up the tiny 10 and want to use my Rigby 30-06 takedown bolt as opposed to a 375 with solids. Was hoping to find someone that can load me up matching softs and solids in the same weight. I don't have experience reloading or equipment to reload on my own.

I believe Unknown Munitions out of Idaho does that. I got some 180gr or 200gr solids for 30-06 from them. I was happy with the results.

I’ve used Superior Ammunition in past. They’ll load whatever you want.

There are a number of 150 gr FMJ factory options you might consider trying first. Might not be that different in where they shoot from your other ammo.

Tiny 10 quest has been good. I have 7 so far. I am in FL so not around NC. Appreciate the offer to help. I don't have a load developed for the gun. I was shooting factory Hornday ELD-X 178 grain when I took the 30-06 with me on my last safari. It did ok out to 250 yards, but I wasn't really happy with group performance beyond that. I don't think that is the best round for the rifle. My guess is the Rigby will like a slower heavier round. I didn't spend much time tinkering with it though as shots were just not that far where I needed to worry about it. Had it been a long range pursuit, I would have had a custom modern rifle with me, vs a Rigby wood stock take down bolt action. I definitely went with the custom long range option when I hunted Vaal Rhebok and Mtn Reedbuck in the mountains of the E. Cape as those were long shots.

I know the solids and softs will fly a bit differently but at 100 yards or less, it won't be that material. The shots in Mozambique will be closer. Now that I have a little more time, I can develop a load for it. Was thinking of trying a soft/solid combo in either 180 grains or even the 210 grain option. I may have both loaded to try. I have until next summer before I go back to Mozambique so hopefully I can get it worked out by then. My biggest concern with the flat nose solids is chambering them from the magazine. I had that problem before in a 375 bolt where the flat nose solids would get stuck in the receiver trying to cycle from the mag due to the angle and the flat edge would catch the top of the chamber, but the round nose solids would easily feed. So I will have to experiment with it.

My safari this year is for Leopard to finish the big 5!

I only mentioned that they will perform differently if your using same scope for both.

But im ignorant on the tiny ten but i would imagine a swift sirrocco would be more than fine? Or are you looking for absolute minimal damage?
Thats the exit hole of a white tail with a 180grn 3006. With a MV of 2600fpd and change, it was shot at about 25ft. So still full speed.

The flat nosed if having cycling issues you may just have to single feed them.

Just curious whats the logic behind hitting them with a wad cutter of a monolithic

Also i agree with 375..why not just use a FMJ bullet its probably alot cheaper. And just as effective for lazering a hole in something small. Im sure you can find some military match ammo for like the 1903s and garands for reasonable prices

A 180 grain swift scirocco would split much of the tiny ten in half. Whitetail deer is a funny comparison to use for a 10 pound red duiker that OP is looking for in Moz.

Im honestly ignorant on the tiny ten. But makes sense. Whats the ideal ammo features for the tiny ten?
