“The more confined the space, the more concentration of the virus...”.

My wife’s hospital is doing a shit job of mitigating this. They want staff, yes staff, to ride elevators with walk-in pts with potential symptoms. Insane.

Yes, Mad, Angry, Frustrated, Fearful, I imagine those are all emotions you are dealing with every time your wife goes on duty. Those are the same thoughts that go through my mind for my own daughter-in-law as she goes to work at the ICU of her hospital. It is all shit. Where ever you go, it is all shit. What we can do is our job regardless of the shit. Do the job to the best of our ability. Do our job with a smile on our face. Why? "Because we are here" Some of us have to go and work with the sick, do our job. Some of us have to stay home, do our job. All of us have to wash our hands. All of us have to focus on being positive.

GOOD DAYS WILL OUTNUMBER bad days

Hang in there! You have a very BRAVE Wife!

This statement you are referring to is very misleading.
(when I get near a computer I’ll try and clear this one up properly)

COVID-19 has not been shown to be aerosolized. She needs DROPLET PROTECTION procedures to be protected. I hope they are providing those measures for her.

Interesting bit of information on how Chloroquine started being used.

The jury is still out on airborne vs. droplet. I know for a fact a major Level 1 trauma center in a hotspot is using airborne protocol because they have determined that the transmission acts more like airborne than pure droplet.

Where is that from? I have heard several survivors describe the exact 1-2 day window of progress after taking HC. Trump said yesterday that 1100+ pts in NY are being treated with HV + Zpak. This is a good test and should definitively whether it works or not. I also wonder if other anti-malarial like Malarone would work??

Baxter,

I scanned back through the information I was looking at and didn't find it again. It was a twitter feed on the epidemic and they only showed this piece of information. Since it was a retweet, I ignored the post and just copied the content. I don't know where it was from.

Accidentally found it. Look 21 hours down from top from the time I post this. All the best.

Looks like it may have been part of a WSJ article

Wonder if NYC will turn the corner as soon as people hope. Photo from yesterday or today.

Of course the numbers are up - the Olympics have been delayed, so no more reason to falsely deflate.

.....and locked up at home, this is the year I would have actually watched the Olympics.

International minimums and qualifying sure put a damper on the games. Now we are stuck watching everyone above four sigma, who are within 2% of each other in ability. Eddie the Eagle is my Olympic hero. Anyone with average skiing talent that will go off a 90 meter jump has my complete admiration! Who didn't love the Jamaican bobsled team?

Our idiot Governor of Arizona, just issued a stay at home order for all non essential business/ workers until April 30. Just spoke to my company, and they said they are an essential service. I will keep working until the cops drag me away. My Maverick personality tends to........

I sincerely hope they all get the proper support they require to do their jobs safely. Plenty of us have spouses on the front line.

Not sure who the muppet was on linked in.
This is guidance from the horses mouth. Johns Hopkins.

I can see the confusion. Standard Droplet and then says Aerosol from CDC.
I can not find any (quality) research that

Johns Hopkins provided this link in their guidance.

For this guidance high-risk exposures refer to HCP who have had prolonged close contact with patients with COVID-19 who were not wearing a facemask while HCP nose and mouth were exposed to material potentially infectious with the virus causing COVID-19. Being present in the room for procedures that generate aerosols or during which respiratory secretions are likely to be poorly controlled (e.g., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, intubation, extubation, bronchoscopy, nebulizer therapy, sputum induction) on patients with COVID-19 when the healthcare providers’ eyes, nose, or mouth were not protected, is also considered high-risk.

Medium-risk exposures generally include HCP who had prolonged close contact with patients with COVID-19 who were wearing a facemask while HCP nose and mouth were exposed to material potentially infectious with the virus causing COVID-19. Some low-risk exposures are considered medium-risk depending on the type of care activity performed. For example, HCP who were wearing a gown, gloves, eye protection and a facemask (instead of a respirator) during an aerosol-generating procedure would be considered to have a medium-risk exposure. If an aerosol-generating procedure had not been performed, they would have been considered low-risk. See Table 1 for additional examples.

Low-risk exposures generally refer to brief interactions with patients with COVID-19 or prolonged close contact with patients who were wearing a facemask for source control while HCP were wearing a facemask or respirator. Use of eye protection, in addition to a facemask or respirator would further lower the risk of exposure.

The view on Chloroquine. Low quality evidence, media hype and small studies.

The Calgary Winter Olympics.
Where the craziest athletes ever got to compete.
Looking off that 90 metres tower is something to behold. Not for the faint of heart, no matter how well the landing area is designed.
