I always marvel that the human race didn't die out centuries ago - I mean how did we miss out that black mold was exterminating us - and no wonder the Western Roman Empire last for only a bit over 700 - years - using lead pipes for drinking water. Poor Legionares were likely collapsing in the dust as they tried to form into mandibles. And of course, all the radon emerging in all those basements across Western Europe and North America - to think those silly people were actually afraid of the plague and the Huns.

Mankind will destroy itself. It is inevitable.

It all started in the Garden of Eden.

All this talk about the earth makes me pine for the old days when we hunted dinosaurs, sabre tooth tigers and mastodons. Talk about dangerous game! :P Elmer Fudd:

@Red Leg, I wonder how all of us boomers ever survived up in to our teens riding a bicycle without a helmet.

LOL! We use to play bike tag while riding through the mosquito fogger laying out his nightly blanket of DDT.

"Quick, here comes the mosquito truck"!!!!! Whoopeee!! We used to sit on the porch, and next to the Jack and Jill ice cream guy, the mosquito truck was a daily highlight. There was something about the aroma of kerosene and the lure of riding in zero visibility that made a kid's life exciting.

That was a ton of fun

Longwalker, You say you don't have any more US products. Did you purge all your US brass, bullets, powder and primers, too? You can't have it one way. All or nothing.

There is no global warming climate change. Go to wikileaks and read the emails fetched from a hack of the mail servers of the University of East Anglia in 2010 (I think, been a while since I looked at any of them). This is one of the biggest shakedowns in human history.

Sgt. Zim, Climate change, global warming was the biggest scam, fraud, con of the 20th century. The climate changes every minute. It's cool in the morning and changes throughout the day. The planet maybe warming up because it's recovering from the last ice age. Research the history of the world and you will find it's a natural geologic shift. The earth warms and cools down. It was warm for the dinosaurs and cooled down for the ice age. It has since the beginning of time and will continue til the end of time regardless what a bunch of fear mongers babble and squeal.

PS. How about your gun safe(s), reloading press(es),, dies, ammo boxes, case prep tools, powder measure(s) and all the other stuff. I bet if you removed all the US made products in just your reloading room you wouldn't have much left.

One should make sure one's brain is running before one puts one's mouth in gear. There is a very good chance of being caught on what was said.

It's absolutely a confidence game.

Few of the useful idiots ever seem to ask any pertinent questions about climate.
  1. Prior to the industrial revolution, was it ever hotter on earth than it is today (yes)
  2. Prior to the industrial revolution, was it ever been hotter on earth than it is projected to be 100 years from now (yes)
  3. Has it ever been colder on earth than it is today (yes)
  4. How much warming did it take to melt the 1-mile-thick ice sheet that covered the Great Lakes region (notably present-day Chicago, Detroit, et al) during the last ice age
  5. How much did the sea level rise since the apex of the last ice age? (about 100 meters - we know this because we've found evidence of human settlements off the east coast of the US that are presently under about 300 ft of water)
  6. What is the ideal mean temperature on earth so that we'll know we've been successful in stopping "climate change."

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

Sixty-Two Years of Math In America (1957 – 2019)

Last week I purchased a burger for $1.58. The counter girl took my $2, and I was digging for my change when I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies, while looking at the screen on her register. I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but she hailed the manager for help. Why do I tell you this?

Because of the evolution in teaching math since the 1950s:

1. Teaching Math In 1950s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit?

2. Teaching Math In 1960s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit?

3. Teaching Math In 1970s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80. Did he make a profit?

4. Teaching Math In 1980s
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20. Your assignment: Underline the number 20.

5. Teaching Math In 1990s
A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20. What do you think of this way of making a living? Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong answers, and if you feel like crying, it's ok.)

6. Teaching Math In 2000s
If you have special needs, or just feel you need assistance because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, childhood memories, criminal background, etc., then don't answer, and the correct answer will be provided for you. There are no wrong answers.
