Swarovski z6i 1-6x24mm Illuminated EE (Extended Eye Relief) Optic w/box & papers
Photos demonstrate it is 99%+ condition. 30mm tube. Original lens covers. Nearly 5" of eye relief for heavy recoiling rifles, the only illuminated DG scope of its type ever made. All papers including batter tool, lens cloth, warranty card, booklets, etc. Original box serialized to the scope. Adjustable illumination intensity, setting memory, etc.

As rare and fine an optic as you can find and this one in impeccable condition. These have sold on GI for $4650-$5000 in recent years.

Available as a first-look to AH members @ $4350 delivered anywhere in the lower 48 States. Payment via Paypal F&F, Venmo, or Zelle. (no fees to seller)

I’ve got one, wish I’d bought ten!

I have one on almost every rifle I own. They are indespensible for DG rifles, but they are also really helpful for Ruger #1 and Daktota 10 customs that have reasonable length of pull requirements. Also imperative for kipplaufs, drillings, and combination guns where you need that longer tube length to get it installed correctly.

Agreed, the best solution I have seen for a No 1 where 6x is sufficient to your needs.

We currently live in a bit of a quagmire when it comes to fine guns. Humans are getting bigger/taller, average length of pull for rifles is now 14-5/8", suitable for a 6'-6'4" average male American. The problem is that in WW2 the average male was about 5'9" and that's why military and civilian rifles were made with 13-5/8" length of pull.

Now comes the issue with scopes. The scopes are limited to where they can rest without obstructing rings or spanning them properly if it has a large/magnum ejection port.

The net result is that stocks are 1" too long to provide good eye relief for optics that have only 3.75" of eye relief. (99% of scopes) The tactical guys get around this with hideous picatinney rails so you gain more adjustment for the optic, but in the fine gun world where 30mm luxury rings are required to match the rifle, things become very problematic.

These rare scopes are the solution to that very real problem.

Im honestly surprized Swaro discontinued them.. I realize they arent going to have the same global demand as something like a 2-10x.. but.. theres still clearly a market.. and honestly no one else in the swaro class is trying to fill it anymore.. they could own every inch of it..

I've told Swaro this several times and it fell on deaf ears. I was standing in front of the district Swaro rep, a guest at a booth containing 20+ new Rigby rifles. I pointed to them, their 14"+ LOP, and their magnum recoil/action sizes. I mentioned it was ironic he is present at the behest of a great dealer of his and their top-quality rifles are incompatible with most of their optics using the standard rings and mounts that come with them.

He shifted into an explanation that most of the 1-6x and 1-8x sales come from the tactical/3-gun market and there just isn't enough demand.

He said he'd build me some if I'd place the minimum order. I asked how many and he stated it was something akin to 500 units or more. I wasn't willing to spend $1,500,000-$2,500,000 to revive them from the product line.

Interesting idea. I’d take two.

Crowdfunding?

Still, it’s all about profit optimization…

Well, judging from the current z8i 1-8x24, the MSRP for a new EE scope using 95% of the same components would be $3600. Swarovski isn't going to make new EE scopes, but what's the difference between hoping for a new z6i 1-6x24 EE at $3600 someday requiring pre-order and months/years of waiting and $4350 for a like-new in box one in this ad immediately?

The point being, Swaro is never going to remake them and if they did, they won't cost a meaningful amount less than current price of an exceptional condition one that is old stock.

This scope will appreciate over the years.

This scope is an example of the axiom to buy glass that cost as much or more than the rifle.

This scope would be a small percentage of the value of many of the DG rifles used by members here.

So buy it, and use it, Knowing it will appreciate or at the very least maintain its current value.

Think of it as an asset that can actually be used that won’t depreciate. In two years the equivalent amount dollars will buy far less.

A “best” tool that is a hedge against inflation.

I have had this scope a couple of times. Very very nice. As I aged, I migrated to the Z6i 1.7-10x42 illuminated. Easier to see through, and better/wider field of view.
I am using the new Z5i+ in 2-10x42 now as well. It is sleek and very nice.

Z6 is about 2k less than the z8i.

To the contrary, its no longer even offered on the swarovski US website even in non-EE configuration. They have replaced it with the .75-6.0x24mm illuminated model with a $3699 MSRP and of course, not extended eye relief.

I’m sure he’s right that most 1-8x sales are “tacticool” guys buying vortex strike eagles… LVPO are extremely popular with the AR crowd… I’ve got a very nice LVPO on one of my 300 blk AR’s that I use as a back up / loaner pig rifle…

But that is a completely different market and completely different scope… no one is looking for extended eye relief on an AR LVPO.. and the AR LVPO tend to have complex reticles accounting for both windage and elevation…

The swaro wouldn’t appeal to the tacticool crowd.. no doubt…

But the vortex strike eagle and Burris RT6 don’t appeal to big bore / DG hunters either…

I don’t think theyd sell 2000 a year if they brought this scope back… but 500-1000 globally I would think would be relatively easy…

Swaros shot to call I suppose… just seems like a completely unoccupied piece of market space they could grab if they were paying attention or cared

I think what you’ll see in the future is the 1.7-10’s and 2-12’s having an EE type offering from some manufacturers since most rifle shooters over magnify their firearms. The 1x per 100yds has long been forgotten.

Not sure Swaro will be one of the manufacturers that goes this route but if I was a product manager, that’s how/what I’d be looking at to bridge the gap.

Probably, but it won't solve the need for optics to fit on custom, traditional, european, or safari rifles.

Classic rifles have stocks designed to come up to the iron sights rapidly. (e.g. dangerous game rifles) A goofy monte carlo straight stock such as 99% of the rifles offered at Scheels and Cabelas will get you stomped in a DG situation, they are designed for non-DG with a large optic.

So, when you want to put a DG scope on a rifle with a traditional pitched stock designed for DG using iron sights, you're going to want a straight tube and low rings to get the optic as close to in-line with the iron sights for rapid shooting.

Creating a something-somethingx40mm or 50mm optic does not solve a Dangerous Game hunter's typical requirements.

Let’s get this thread back on track and get this scope sold for @rookhawk.

GLWTS my friend.
