Hey guys!
Just wanted to show off the new Blaser R8 Silence, we just got a few barrels in 308, 300 win mag, and 30-06 in.
These have been unavailable in the US for a very long time.

These Silence barrels are a custom contour / stock inlet, so they will not work with your existing R8 stocks.

You can build this out in 2 ways
a standalone rifle system in a Pro 2.0 stock like shown in this photo
Or, if you already have an Ultimate stock you can purchase a new fore-end to facilitate the use of the silence barrel.

Let me know if you are interested in this rifle or a barrel!
Price of this rifle build w/o optic is $6425

Thanks!
Jake

LOVE this.. integral suppressed might be what finally pushes me over the R8 cliff..

It is quite a cool rifle, with the 8ish" of traditional suppressor in front of the muzzle, and reflex suppressor running almost the whole length of the barrel I bet this thing is whisper quiet.. I want to shoot one just to hear it quite badly

If the suppressor is almost full length do you loose velocity and accuracy?
a suppressor should never cause loss of accuracy
the barrel is not ported, so you will not loose velocity
a suppressor essentially vents off any excess gas at the muzzle, it does not slow down the bullet traditionally - there are exceptions to this - but in this case it does not.

All of my rifles experienced a shift in the point of impact when I started attaching suppressors... none by a huge amount.. but for example, when I put a YHM Resonator K on my wife's Kimber Adirondak a few weeks ago her POI shifted about 2" low and about an inch left.. 3 rounds later she was back on zero..

The group size didnt change at all though.. the rifle is just as accurate as ever and keeps 3/4" groups at 100 with my barnes handloads.. with the suppressor.. or without it..

The POI shift wasnt nearly as significant with my Christensen Mesa.. POU shifted about 1.5" right.. elevation remained exactly the same.. once again, a couple of rounds and a couple of clicks and I was back to a perfect zero..

My AR10's had even less of a POI shift.. maybe 1/2" tops..

POI shift yes, any pressure you add to a free floated barrel is going to affect the POA/POI - but it should still be consistent as you have experienced

I’ve already fallen pretty far into the R8 black hole from which no $ escapes. I have threaded R8 barrels but would greatly prefer an integral suppressed barrel. The bad part is having to get another R8 receiver and stock to fit this barrel contour.

With the new ATF regs would this be received through a regular FFL or how does that work now?

I love the integral suppressor but I don't like needing to grind out the stock for the added od.
If they solve that and it fits a standard r8 chassis, it's dynamite

Jake, why don’t you shoot that 308 barrel and I’ll buy it as a demo for a discount.
Lovely idea, I will ask Alex and see what he says

Nothing really changes for us on the ecommerce side, still gotta send suppressors / sbrs / sbs's to an FFL - But it is up to your FFL how they handle the transfer from them to you, some just do 4473's, some do form 4's like normal

I cant imagine an integral suppressor like that is thin enough to fit in a safari / match contour inlet would be very effective, but all kind of wizardy is happening these days
I am personally very fond of over the barrel suppressors like these -
Unknown Suppressors OG
Fierce Dirti8
Dead Air Nomad Ti OTB
Maintains the balance of the rifle, and makes for a nice compact package

@EuroOptic - What is the outside diameter of the suppressor?

Jake so the ultimate is still a one piece stock? How do you replace for end ? What is cost for the for end and barrel. Imm 99% 1 of the 2 I picked up from you is a ultimate. Pm me details and pricing please.

About time too, Dave :A Gathering:

I still can't believe you did not jump at that R8 .375 H&H when I sent you the link. I should have bought it myself and resold it for profit :E Rofl:

Like Green Chile I went the other way. I sent Blaser two of my barrels (.300 Wby and .257 Wby) to thread. I should get them back about anytime now. My main motivation for this is that there is no way I am giving up on the .257 Wby as an ideal PG and MG (Mountain Game) caliber.

Based on the test results of the annual SILENCER SUMMIT SOUND TEST RESULTS that provide data -- NOT opinions ;) -- on over 300 suppressors tested with different calibers in a lab environment (available at thunderbeastarms.com/sound/summit2026), I have purchased a Thunder Beast Magnus (full size) and half a dozen CB (compact brake) adapters. They swear that once the adapter is screwed semi-permanently on the barrel (secured with Rocksett), the conical design of the joint between brake and suppressor guarantees that the rifle returns to zero when you transfer the can from one barrel to the next. We shall see in the long run on various calibers, but so far so good.

The sound suppression is amazing!

I have used it so far on my Mk13 .300 Win (Rem 700 action, Rem 5R barrel and Accuracy International stock) and it truly makes it ear-safe at the shooter's ear. The test data says 133 dB at shooter's ear, and it indeed does not hurt (OSHA' limit is 140 dB). No, it is not "Hollywood quiet", it cannot be with a .300 mag, but it IS ear safe.

Under the new rule, it is just a FFL item. You fill up the same form you would for a standard rifle, and you walk out the door with your suppressor.

1.25".. whatever that is in mm, i just measured it with a tape

Indeed
with an ultimate all you need is this - Blaser R8 Ultimate Silence Relieved Forearm 80227247 & the barrel of your choosing
Can you purchase barrel planks for other model guns?
confused by your question
Blaser makes silence barrels in 308, 30-06, and 300 win mag at the moment
more coming later apparently

You will be very happy with the thunderbeast sir, although I think after hunting with a long suppressor adding much length to the muzzle for a while you will start looking at shorter / over the barrel suppressors.. at least that is what happened to me
My first suppressor was a CGS Hyperion, Extremely quiet on everything up to my 300 PRC, but very long and unwieldy

Dependent on the buyers state laws, this is correct
In PA, we are still required to do form 4's for customers buying suppressors in our showroom

I thought long and hard about this one. My decision in the end was based on dB performance. I fail to see the point in using a suppressor that still requires the shooter to wear ear plugs... or get ear damage because the plugs are not used in the heat of the action, as happens so often (at least to me) ;)

I am at that stage where I cannot afford to loose anymore hearing, so, less than 140 dB at shooter's ear is my bottom line. Darn few cans do that with a .300 Wby or .257 Wby, and all are long (9+") and fat (1 3/4+").

Besides, I reason that the .300 Wby and .257 Wby are open country caliber, and the length of the barrel + suppressor is not all that critical. No doubt this would be different on a 9.3x62 in dense bush...

Interestingly, the Blaser Silence still uses a 8" can, and it is probably what achieves most of the suppression. I am not saying this as a criticism, this is just physics. No doubt the 3.175" barrel jacket helps, but current technology is such that you still need that long and fat baffled expansion chamber at the muzzle.

You are correct, I should have been more specific (y)

Since you’re in Texas, most dealers will transfer to you over the counter with a 4473.

solid points all around
i will admit, i have fallen hard into the short barrel with suppressor craze
