Free Booze and Food! January 9th, 2027 (6th year in a row!)

I'd love to be there but I am involved with organizing the evening events for TTHA this year(SCI Committee).
Friday night will be a fun cocktail party at the convention center. It will be an event our AH group would enjoy. Saturday night is the big fancy banquet. I'll post the info when available.
I'll raise a glass Saturday night for our AH Get Together!

The Marriott in Allen doesnt. Its a bit of a haul (about 35 minutes), but its all interstate.. straight out 121 from the airport to 75, and then the hotel is literally 100 yards off of 75.

Last year once everyone got to the hotel (we probably had 12-15 people in the hotel last year before we ever thought about doing the party there), they started bunching up and sharing uber and/or car pooling to TTHA and to dinner and to the party... Im guessing we'll have 20 or more rooms booked this year with the hotel extending the $89 rate to the party attendees.. I think it will be easy to coordinate with locals in the north DFW area and/or other AH members attending the party and TTHA to get around once you get to the hotel.. getting there the first time though is probably an Uber..

Something I hadnt thought of prior... but will put it out there now.. last year we had a group of TTHA vendors (bos en dal, candles for conservation, MT Maker Knives, etc) and a group of friends all meet and have dinner together Friday night.. it was a group of I think 22 if I recall correctly.. We had a great time..

If anyone local to DFW and/or anyone coming in on Friday wants to get together the night before the party for dinner and drinks, Im happy to coordinate and find a location that can handle us, thats got good food at reasonable prices, etc.. Last year we did Gas Monkey.. it was a blast..

I would be traveling in on Friday, just so I'm not completely exhausted by Monday. I'd be down for dinner that night, but I'm not a TTHA member. Does this matter?

Dave,

Thanks again for doing this and my wife will be there. We will also use the link when you send it to book the hotel room. That is a nice benefit to an already great evening event. Can't wait.

Doesn’t matter at all.. you can join at the registration desk..

Not sure if you’re a military veteran.. TTHA lets vets in the show for free (or at least they have in past years.. )… either way, it’s affordable… I think membership is like $25 a year.. it’s not much

The show goes through Saturday?

It’s Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Friday has been a little slow the last two years. Most of the locals are at work and not a lot of out of towners come in before Friday afternoon.. Saturday and Sunday have a good turn out..

In my opinion Saturday and Sunday are enough time to walk the entire floor, speak with outfitters, check out the stuff being sold, etc.. you don’t need all three days.. but some guys like to take their time, and do second trips around the floor, etc..

Truthfully if you rushed it and didn’t spend much time sitting down with outfitters you could hit all the highlights in 1 full day on the floor IMO

More to follow after I get back home (I’m typing this from a deer blind on my phone lol)… but SUPER EXCITING news…

We do a ton of door prizes every year.. custom knives.. artwork.. optics, etc that are donated… the grand prize of the evening is always a @Bos en Dal SAFARIS hunt that some lucky party goer wins..

This year there will be THREE FREE HUNTS given away.. one in South Africa, one in Zambia, and one in New Zealand…

things just got interesting! :)

And since I’m ineligible for obvious reasons… I’m suddenly jealous as hell lol…

More to folllow Monday … :)

I wonder if I brought a home canned jar of TN Corn if it would be appreciated?

I had a jar from one of the last batches popcorn Sutton made, and a couple of jars from his protege badger… I think Gerrit and I drank the last bit of the badger brew after the 2023 party…

I had been toting them both around since when I lived in Knoxville (2014)…

I’ve still got about 3/4 of a gallon of apple pie that another pretty well known guy in the Virginia Appalachians made for me about 5 years ago.. good corn whiskey like you can get in your neck of the woods is hard to come by in this part of the country…

Man, you are set up! I'll gladly put a quart of Apple Pie in the raffle just for kicks!

Also, Mr. Sutton actually live about 45 minutes from Knoxville, TN where I live. His neck of the woods was somewhere I was warned never to go.

I lived and worked in Knoxville for about 10 years… a little of that time down in Maryville. The rest of the time on the west end of town in Hardin Valley…

Popcorns holler was not somewhere you wanted to go unless you were known… I never went up there.. but I knew some native mountain people whose families went back generations that could go there and buy liquor from him, badger, and some of the other hall of famers living in the TN/VA/NC border areas
