After several safaris to Africa with both a 30/06 for plains game and a 375 H&H for dangerous game, I finally bit the bullet and picked up this virtually new CZ 550 in 458 Lott. It was built by the well know gunsmith and stock maker Jim Cloward of Seattle. I knew Jim while shooting the National Match courses of fire in the 90s. He was an excellent marksman as well as gunsmith.
The rifle has the excellent German EAW Pivot Mount and also has the emergency EAW peep sight that attaches to the rear scope base with just the lifting of a small knob; to both remove the scope and install the peep sight. The Leupold 1.5 X 5 power scope with the heavy plex reticle came with it and is perfect for the quick close-range shots. While my 375 H&H has proven to be most efficient in the bush weld, I'm looking forward to another buff with this rifl
