Hi all,
I’d like to find a 577 to get used to in anticipation of ele hunt in 2 years.
Have an excellent H&H Royal 500/465 I’m potentially interested in working out a trade.
please reach out via DM.
Any recommended dealers? Is George Caswell still active? (I bought this H&H from him years ago). I had a great relationship with Steve Barnett prior to his passing. Don’t know the new owner.
Since I’d be selling the H&H was hoping to work a trade plus any $ up/down with a 577 owner directly.
Thanks
Bill

Is it 500/465 or 375 Flanged? I ask because the case label says 375 Flanged...

Hi, it’s a 500/465. It’s just sitting in a 375 flanged o&l case I located.

Buy a 500 NE better penetration less weight less recoil.....

Oh my…I must look away but can’t quite seem to. As much as I already didn’t need another double, somehow talked myself into a duplicate Heym 375 Flanged this week.

This is essentially the Holland double i figured I’d someday have to connect with. I do not ever see myself wanting to spend the money that one in a 470 or 500 demand, and don’t see as many 450 3 1/4” or 500/450’s as the 500/465…so figured this was the combination. Was close to giving in a while back but ultimately held off as it was an early rifle without the frame bolsters.

I really find the bolstered H&H frame one of the most beautifully designed rifles ever made. Gorgeous rifle, good luck in finding a 577 worthy of separating with this one.

George is still going strong, last I heard.

Given his network, he might be interested & able to broker a deal.

Beautiful rifle, another dream British Gun to accompany my othered. GLWS/Trade

I’d reach out to Gordy’s in Houston, Steve Barnett’s in Mississippi, Mallard's in Florida, Gulf Breeze, Francis Lombardi, William Larkin Moore in AZ and a few others. Dealer like that normally have a collection of customer’s they can call who might part with something.

Hi everyone,
thanks for the comments and updated list of dealers. As mentioned, I bought this rifle from George before he listed it and am glad to hear he’s still going at it. Also have had great dealings with William Larkin Moore on a couple of Piottis. I’ll reach out to both of them to see what they can broker.
Re the .577, it’s a chambering I’ve always been interested in although the earlier point re the .500 is well taken. I reached the same conclusion re external ballistics and had a .500 built by VC but the recoil impulse was miserable (although may have had a lot to do with that rifle).
In the 500 + category I do love the 505 Gibbs and while I no longer own one, I’ve got 400 solids and softs I hung onto. I could be tempted by another bolt rifle in this caliber too.
This H&H is a hell of a rifle if you’re looking

That H&H is a VERY nice double. Best of luck on finding a 577 that is equal of the quality of yours.

An Indian Maharaja gun adds more provenance to the gun. A masterpiece.
Unless you find a H&H 577 royal of equal pedigree I'd be reluctant to let this go..

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob
