quarter rib, banded sling swivel and banded front sight kit interest

here is a Matrix custom quarter rib (and banded sling, front sight base), a 404J on a FN action. The barrel has a very long breech! and the Leupold scope bases required taller sight bases.

Good to hear, I'll box up mine to send to him.

looking to see how much interest there might be in these items for gunsmiths. These are CNC machined, filed and polished. These can be either standard barrel profiles, such as Douglas, etc. or custom profiles. They are machined to the exact barrel contours, ensuring a seamless fit. The banded ring's inside diameters are tapered to the barrel profile. Thanks
Steve

Some more info if still available please

Is a douglas 5.5 contour suported? Have a barrel headed my way soon.

Sorry for all this technical stuff so early in the morning, but this is what goes into the thinking...

@AZDAVE
there is no barrel contour limitation (other than the raw material stock size) but there is technical considerations depending upon the action if square bridge or round. The boreline heights of the qrib and front base are sized such that fixed sight has a reasonable sight plane, i.e. the goldline, above the bridge or sight base.
For example, my qrib on a round bridge action with Talley bases. It might look tall and foward but this is designed for either a Swaro 2-10x42 or Leupold 2-10x42 objective bell to clear the qrib (setup for 1 fixed, 2 folding leaves) and the height to give 150/1000" goldline visible above the scope bases.

As @Wyfox did,I suggest sending the barrel and action to Matrix for the barrel measurements, machining, soldering the kit and clocking the sights. I measured mine using calipers (which I am good with) and below is an example of the required info for the kit (the numbers in red are derived).
Looks a bit narly, but as you can imagine, you really need the complete barrel contours.
You might notice that for the 416 Taylor, there are 2 muzzle diameters, channel and fat:)
This is a custom contour from K&P barrels designed to fit a B&C CZ550 medium action stock and have a 2nd, shallower taper past the forearm which gives a larger muzzle diameter.

and Tim has been busy. I est. this barrel of chips nearly 1000lbs:)

I have a 9.3 barrel coming from douglas and it will go into a standard M98 action. I can take care of the soldering and clocking. just wanting to use a 1/4 rib as it just looks so much better.

once i get it and confirm barrel measurements for the 1/4 rib, barrel band and front sight I will reach back out.

So your offer is for solder on quarter ribs, banded front sights and Barrel band swivels?

Not me, I am a customer and do the technical for my stuff. I am not skilled at soldering or gunsmithing, as I guess @AZDAVE:). Just providing information that folks might find of interest. If they need this kind of work, should check with Matrix.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob
