Have an 9.3x64 in stainless I think unsigned - but with English proof marks - weird but intriguing

Not sure, but it's a beautiful rifle

Thats gorgeous....

Since it's been through the London Proof House, is it possible to kind of reverse engineer it and ask if they have a record of it?

Its not a Montana action is it ? Kind of looks a bit like the Montana PH action I have my .585 Hubel built on.

Who did you buy it from?

With British Proof marks it could be a Mayfair action. CNC machined and eyewateringly expensive.

I’ve seen this rifle before. It was one of a trio built in 7x64mm Brenekke, 8x64mm Brenekke and 9.3x64mm Brenekke by a British gunsmith named Ronald Wharton.

I saw all three of them at a British hunting convention in 2019.

Sir you are a Gentleman and a scholar - with a keen eye and a good memory ! Appreciate your input !

Pretty sure that the action on this is nickel plated and the barrel is stainless, the nickel has a golden hue to it that the stainless lacks.

Could well be - however have a request to the gunsmith for the log entry and details - so will share when made available to me.

Excellent company however the news is not good !

"Definitely not one of Ron’s rifles.

He did not build a stainless steel rifle /all his rifles were hand stocked and never got to the dizzy heights of 7000 + I have double checked his records, and he did not build a rifle in that calibre"

The search continuies !

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob
