How many are addicted to Africa and need yearly fix?

Is this a trick question???? I am hopelessly addicted and am spending my kids inheritance to go "one more time". Same with fishing in Alaska - home of dumb fish that a very average fisherman can catch.

Since 2003, I have been 15 times with trips interspersed to Austria, NZ, Tajikistan, Turkey, Canada and Alaska. I prefer Austria and Africa to all. Planning on the UK and Spain soon....

I need a 12 step program but will be darned if I apologize to anyone....
Where do you go in Alaska. I'm looking to go next year. Thinking of kenia river area

Folks,

The addiction started in '93 when I told my s.o. that I thought we could afford a 10-day buffalo hunt. Her immediate reaction was "That's not enough days". I picked a winner. Her only caveat was we could not shoot any cats.

We made a plan for August. '94 and overall, it was great hunt with a good Dugga Boy, PG and an elephant I never planned for.

On the plane ride home Sadie asked me what we would hunt next. I cautiously said leopard, she agreed and we were off on a journey that would take us to 9 African countries over 25 years.

I'd love to go back a couple of time to hunt Uganda and Ethiopia, but it's gotten SO expensive it just isn't in the cards. I do keep my hand in as I'm in the business, but I have an attack of melancholy now and then.

Addiction? I don't know but obsession for sure.

Cheers,

Mark
I married the wrong woman, lol respectively!!!

I'm definitely addicted to trophy hunting, just not strictly Africa.

I’m addicted as well, no kids and my wife is supportive.
Most of us worked our butts off, saved up and deserve to go on Safari.
Memories created are worth more than anything else, it is what we make of it.
For now, it’s every other year I go on Safari, the wife gets the other year of where she wants us to go. Fair enough.

Addicted? Hopelessly now yes and to wild Africa at that! Every year? I wish but it seems I can't go without leaving the budget at home, I just keep killin' stuff. Right now I am "planning" for 29 so hoping to continue every three years as long as my pocketbook and legs will carry me. My 29 plan is causing me to consider presently what I can possibly sell to generate enough for Lion/buffalo/kudu/roan somewhere but I want to bring the Lion home so........maybe sell a few Brahman cows, some old equipment but try to hang onto my retirement........for now.

I just returned a few days ago from safari #7. I like Africa, but I don't need that Africa fix, I could quit.
Oh, except I booked a couple weeks next year in Namibia for my sons. I'm going along just to be nice.
Not because I can't quit. Really.

I have an addiction and for the last several years I’ve done multiple trips per year. This year I did and early season Elephant/Leopard in Zim and in June went to Coutada 11 with the primary focus of finishing my Tiny 10 and secondary focus of experiencing a buffalo in the swamp.

For the first time in several years I don’t have anything booked/planned for the next 2 years. I’m sure a cancellation hunt will tempt me next year, but I’m looking at 2029 for a return to C11 and 2030 for a potential trip to CAR or Cameroon for Lord Derby Eland.

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.

Dan who is C. W. Richter? He seems to not be a fan of myself!
