Ladies and Gents,

I now have been to RSA 7 times on plains game and one buffalo hunt. I canceled plans for another trip this year to save funding for a proper, old school cape buffalo hunt. Any country will be considered. I would like the option of taking a second bull, or other species.

I will follow up on recommendations and willing to look at offers from site sponsors.

I'd like old school, old Africa on foot. Tented camp preferred, but will consider remote lodge/accommodations. I will be 59 at the time of the hunt, and fair to good shape.

Ive received one offer for the swamps of Northern Moz but I dont think that's what I want this safari. It looks great... just not this trip.

At the moment, the trip is just me. No observer. However, if mama decides she wants to go, Ill need a price for observer.

If you are sending an offer, please do so via email, along with references.

If you are a member sending a recommendation to your favorite hunt, please attach a link to your hunt report.

Full disclaimer: I shoot a push feed rifle. It's a Sako AIV in 375HH.

Not sure why the link I posted in #6 didn't work

Try again. BTW, tented camp with hot showers. Great service from the entire staff. I am very tempted to go back and stay a little longer.

Thank you, I'll be reviewing all info.

Yes, DM is what I meant, not e-mail... sorry for that.

If you really want simple, old school on foot you should contact Natasha Illum Berg. Mobile camps, sleep on the ground (in tents) and all on foot. Scroll down on her website and there's specific mention of these type of hunts that she offers:

I also offer tailor made hunting safaris entirely on foot. This in the same areas, but routes change at the will of the game. Here we our accommodation is old style East Africa fly camping and much in the simple and fancy-free style of the early explorers

I haven't hunted with her but want to some day. She works through Robin Hurt Safaris who I have hunted with and are top notch.

If you want to hunt outside South Africa you should consider being more flexible with your dates or booking for 2028. Most of the best concessions and PHs will be booked up already for July next year taking away a lot of your options to compare. The areas that aren’t booked for July less than a year away I’d ask some questions why.

Check out Deon West from Cloete and West Safaris. Everything he and his team does is all about tradition. He absolutely loves the Selous. I can guarantee you he will meet every standard. I hunted with him in 2022 and it was a bucket list experience. I am headed back for what will probably be my last hunt and I know it will be an experience to remember the rest of my life. Not about shooting but about the total experience around it.

If you want to split charter fees, let me know. Going to Tanzania in July

Heard from a friend- a client took a 10day walking Safari- the vehicle would restock supplies every 3rd day and move camp every 3 days. They hunted leopard first, then focused on buffalo, sable an eland. One tough client.
This is surely the extreme and not so common way to hunt.
Most countries offer great buffalo hunting with some fantastic tented camp options. Choosing the best time of the year is more important than anything else. Less natural water sources are good for animal concentration. If you have a riverfront, this will definitely help with animal numbers in the area. Less people in the area is also a factor that should be taken into consideration- locals, villages etc.

Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Uganda, Namibia are all great places to consider.
Go meet the outfitter at the shows - he/PH will ultimately be the person you spend 14days with - morning to evening.

Ladies and Gents,
No further suggestions needed as I have booked a hunt in SW Mozambique.

I want to thank everyone that reached out with offers and suggestions. The timing of my hunt needed to coincide with my next, already scheduled visit to RSA, therefore working around schedules was the big hurdle. Lord willing, this won't be my last trip to Africa and I've had enough discussions with site sponsors to know that they are high on my list for those future trips.

Thanks again to everyone. Now I'm off to the range to shoot that old Sako in celebration (and practice).

Randy

Tsala for this safari.

Good morning. I see that you had a Sauer 202 for sale for $3,000. Did you sell it at that price?
I have one for sale as well. I listed it (on here ) at $3,000 as well. Is the price high, low or right where it should be?

Thanks. Alex. [redacted] in case you want to call me to discuss further. I appreciate your time help and support.

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.
