KMG Hunting Safaris 2026 Season Photos

While out looking for Kudu, this Bushbuck ram gave us an opportunity that we simply could not resist. After spotting this ram feeding from roughly 700 yards away, we made our way closer to have a better look. Due to fading light, we had to move swiftly, still dodging a few obstacles as we crawled in order to get a clear shot. Shot distance - 40 yards.

We departed the following morning to hunt one of our areas for Gemsbuck with a great chance at a Kudu in the area. We started the morning by walking through the valleys, checking the spots getting hit by the sun. We managed to see a few Kudu cows and originally set off after a different bull that we had spotted while moving through the shadows.
As we crested the rise, we noticed that the Kudu cows already had us made and started to put distance between us. We caught this bull, frozen in motion at the bottom of the valley watching us. With slow motions the shooting sticks went up for a comfortable 170 yard shot.

Depending on time of the year, Waterbuck are often found with a heavy oil residue on their skins. This bull was covered. Skin, horns with the unmistakable musky smell. This bull was taken in one of our free range areas where a small quota each year ensures excellent bulls for the future.

Spectacular Black Wildebeest bull taken in some challenging conditions. This particular stalk reminded me how important a rangefinder is when it comes to different terrain, which when it comes to the Eastern Cape, there is simply no place in Africa where it changes as drastically. What I thought was us being within shooting distance, proved to be a requirement to crawl another 200 yards.

Some of the typical plains game animals hunted on the first time over are the Blesbuck and Impala. Generally after trip one, some of the animals observed on the trip, including some of the more specialized species get added.

This old Common Duiker ram gave us a good run around while moving through some tall shrub. He also managed to get a horn into my blood tracking dog. You would think the dog would learn the first time around after his run in with a Bushbuck ram and 55 stitches later. This time, only dented his street cred.

This was a serious Nyala bull that I had spotted in the same area a couple of times and had been unsuccessful on. Every afternoon, we would circle around the area to see if he was home. Stalking through some tall shrub, we caught him sneaking past us at roughly 40 yards and were able to stay undetected, stopping him in a roughly 5 foot opening.

On a cold, very windy day, we decided to focus on all of the sheltered crevasses searching for a Bushbuck ram trying to warm himself. I picked up a long tail, moving above the trackers which quickly came into focus as a Caracal. Fortunately, on the list.
I phoned the hounds-man, who was working another valley around the corner from us, which took approximately 20 minutes to round up the hounds and make his way to us. I showed him where the cat was seen approximately 15 minutes prior and for the last time.
Upon releasing the hounds, they pulled a line in the direction of the cat instantaneously. The lead hounds worked the scent a bit, with roughly four hounds backtracking on the scent.
Once the lead hound changed tone, everyone was on board and we were off to the races. We moved forward with the truck, and saw the Caracal cross in front of us, hounds en tow. Cat thought outside the box, circling back, only to run into the 4 trailing hounds that had backtracked earlier.
From there, it was roughly 50 yards before treeing.
