those racks over the fireplace look enormous. Congratulations on some very excellent trophies. I also noted a good sized pelt (wolf?) on the wall near the door. The brick fireplace really anchors the room. You definitely brought "enough gun" .at some point you may need to consider adding an annex or extension . How long was the construction phase? I am currently renovating and converting and old barn into my person residence. we gutted down to the studs and kept most of the old beams-filled the walls with 21 century insulation electrical plumbing etc and just got to the dry wall stage. its been over a year and hope to get it done before Christmas. cheers

Yes above the fireplace are stags with graded antlers in medals (silver and bronze). In addition to the value in CiC points, they are large and interesting. Wolf skins are to the left and right of the entrance. One is male and the other is female. By the way, the wolf trophy is valued the most in our country. Our wolves are extremely cautious and resourceful. There is a saying that says that 95% of hunters never see a wolf in their entire lives, and that of those who see it, only 5% manage to catch it. With a fireplace, it is very important that there is no smoke in the room when it is lit. It is very difficult to achieve when he is open. I built this one based on a project and it works awesome. You can put any wood on the fire, the smoke will not be felt in the room even when all the doors and windows are closed. The construction process lasted about 1 year. I want you to finish as soon as possible yor room.

thank you . Wolf is known to be wary and elusive target. In western US I have seen signs of wolf activity (tracks and kills) and heard them (rarely) but never caught a single sight of one in north america. We did see wolf during my time in mongolia but in a country with 70 million livestock and few fences or people, the dynamic is different.

The way the chimney draws the smoke out of the house is the make or break characteristic for any fireplace-it sounds like you have got that essential piece right. A mountain retreat without a good fireplace is like a winter evening without a brandy! somehow incomplete . I spent all day friday at a quarry in rural Pennsylvania selecting the stone for the fireplace in our project here. exciting stuff. We are still in construction but plumbing and electrical wiring is in place and drywall is up. Now we will start the stone wall interior and stone fireplace, along with kitchen and bathroom tile and cabinets countertops. This phase shld take 2 months, then we go ahead with wood flooring . I am still looking for wood slabs to be countertop for bar . Fireplace and bar will be focal points. so need to get both correct. I wish you good luck with your new place and am happy to send the plans and pictures
