Last night I rolled up some 6.5x55 cartridges. The rifle is still on order... But i wanted some cartridges to admire while i waited. I absolutely love the classic 6.5mm cartridges, especially when loaded with traditional heavy round nose bullets!

The cartridge below it is a 416RM loaded with a 300gr TSX.

Love the 275 Raptors! Have found them to be very accurate. Taking them to Africa in a couple weeks.
I’ve only used them on bears so far and yes accurate. Good luck in Africa and look forward to your report!

Wow!! Wouldn’t it be easier to grab a pistol for personal defence than the ol’ 458win?
No need for a pistol…I just put one 458 cartridge loaded with a Lehigh under the doormat outside and that has worked perfectly. I’ve never had a intruder problem

416 Taylor 400 gr HDGX range loads.

375 Whelen 300 gr AF

How did they do on bears for you?
They worked great on bears. I don’t shoot at game over 150yds and preferably inside 75. The last black bear I killed was around 60yds and it dropped him like a sack of potatoes with the Raptor bullets. Long range hunting is not for me, I like the sneaking up more than anything. Short story…back in the day I went to the Yukon for a guided grizzly and caribou hunt with a 28 Nosler expecting longer shots. I hated that rifle but anyway I killed my grizz and caribou both inside 40yds one shot each, crazy huh. It was great, I got rid of that rifle upon my return. Not sure the point of this story but maybe that the thrill of sneaking up close and absolutely hammering the prey is the drug for me. This is my bear from this year using the Raptors.

My experience too. I have used the mz Raptors and wt deer drop like a bag of rocks. What caliber did you use on bears and what is the rifle in the Pic? Taking the .375 275 grain Raptors and 300 grain solids to Africa. Was not to hard to develop separate loads for each to shoot to the same poi.

That’s a 458 win mag with 300gr Raptors. Sounds like a pretty dam good one-two punch you have for Africa.

Going to be in DG country even though not hunting them. I'm not going to be surprised by something while carrying a .30 something. Main target is Eland and I want plenty of gun for them too.

Finished load development on the .300Win 200gr Barnes LRX-BT “Travel Load” 10 shot Average of 2,885fps.

3 shot group @100yds with tripod adjustable front rest and rear bag, now I just need to order my custom CDS dial.

Special thanks to @Mark A Ouellette for suggesting H4831sc powder.

15 rounds of 30-06
55 grains of IMR4451
165 grains SST
CCI200
3.240 OAL

Switching from WLR primers to CCI200 shrinks the groups by a lot.

When a load gives you this kind of grouping at 200 yards, it’s worth trying again! Rifle is a Winchester Model 70 Super Grade.

Dave, I could use both of them if still available. I just picked up a new .22 mag and a .22 pump that they would be perfect on.

Dan who is C. W. Richter? He seems to not be a fan of myself!
