Quite possibly the finest rifle I own is a Sterling Davenport M70 in .416 Rigby. This rifle could be the twin to that one. Almost identical styling. Oof, this is a nice one, Jager.

Interesting you say that. I own two done by Sterling and I thought this checkering looks like his work. He was known to do checking work for other makers including some of the London big names.
 
Conco may have contracted him for this work. From what I know is that Conco was a NY businessman that had an ffl and love for the Hoffman calibers, and fine big bore guns and produced about 80 rifles and they were contract builds by the best builders. This is what I could find out by asking around but who knows. I need to talk to the guild. The gun is very meticulously built and good metal to wood fit. Checkering is superb. If I don't sell it by the end of the week, I am thinking I may just keep it and I want to add a leather purdey style pad to it or an english red pad and get the bottom metal engraved.
 
I have several guns from Jager and all were better than described. Wish I could sell my 375 pre 64 and buy this one.

I know it gets said here repeatedly, but I’m shocked this rifle is still for sale. The seller only has immaculate firearms. It’s apparent that this rifle was made by one of the better American guild makers.

If you sent your $2500 donor rifle in to any guild maker today. The $3000 extra dollars would get you an unfinished stock and a three-year wait. Then you would have $3000 or $4000 extra accouterments and Labor.

Thank you, and yes, I am really surprised myself. I didn't think this would last.. I guess everyone is happy with their CZ or Remingtons....lol I had it out today giving it some love, and I may just keep it, it is an unreal rifle. It may go to Botswana with me next year!!.
 
This goes back to our discussion on "A point in life" where I mentioned setting aside $10K for two rifles and scopes and being done with it. We'll, here is 50% of the equation completed. Easy Peasy.

Unless I misunderstood, as part of the agreement, you will also provide a lion and leopard hunt, two elephants, a black rhino, a Siberian tiger, 7 cape buffalos, unlimited Dodos, and a trophy sasquatch hunt at a future date. It's a pleasure doing business with you, Sir.
