I long concluded I'd not be hunting Africa again, and for Alaska & Canada I have and much prefer my AHR 9.3x62.

So, I'm considering parting with my Kimber 8400 Talkeetna .375 H&H

It's been tweaked a bit...

The Krieger #4 Heavy Sporter (.670) stainless steel barrel I chopped to 20.5" recessed crown

Removed the factory sites and replaced with:
NECG Masterpiece Banded Front Ramp with bead and flip-up night sight
NECG Classic One Leaf Expess Sight w/Island Base
Moved the barrel band back since the barrel was chopped

NP3 coating to bolt and internals
Cerakoted the external metal graphite black

Pillar and glass bedded

Trips my digital scale at 7lbs 8.6oz

All work was done by Hill Country Rifles.

Shoots factory Federal 300gr. TBBC just under MOA.

What would be a fair valuation?

I've hunted Africa many times with my Talkeetna, these are great rifles, I like the 4+1 capacity. I had my barrel cut down to 20", handles so nice when hunting! GLWS

I sold a bone stock Talkeetna recently for $3800. It's tough to sell used rifles these days for anywhere near what they are worth but there's definitely a market for these rifles. Several years ago I bought the rifle for $3k, took it to Africa and shot a Zebra and Cape Buffalo with it and sold it about 6 months ago. They are great rifles and mine was easily a 3/4 MOA shooter with factory ammo.

I'll get pictures up by the weekend.

Sounds like a wonderful setup. I still kick myself for the last two I walked by without bringing home. Local Sportsmans here in Soldotna had one on a sale that sat for a bit (pre-covid) when there were Kimbers aplenty. Then after they had all but disappeared I saw one at Boondocks in Eagle River, it was already cut down, had been hunted a bit and showed signs of real use but was reasonable and perfect condition to drag around Alaska.

For a large/Dangerous game hunting rifle in truly adverse conditions, I dont think Kimber made a better rifle.

Currently has a Kimber Picatinny Rail as I had a S&B rail scope mounted.

4200 shipped within CONUS (shipped in plastic hard case)
Please ensure your FFL will accept from a non-FFL individual. A copy of TXDL included to facilitate the transfer.

Is there enough barrel ahead of the front sight to have it threaded?

Can you show us a pic of the sight picture looking across the rail to the iron sights? Lower profile Q/Ds might make better sense (Talley, Alaskan, etc.) but nice rifle!

With the current rail mount it's not optimal as the rail is too high. I had two rail mounted scopes sighted in ready to go.

Before switching over to the rail scopes, I used Talley bases and QD rings. With the Talley bases you can use the iron sights.

A beautiful rifle! I bet she is very handy with the more compact package. GLWS, my man!

I have a handful of Talley bases I'll include. If memory serves correctly, a least a couple them were Cerakoted as well.

3995 shipped CONUS.
I accept major crypto, PayPal F&F, cashiers check, or a personal check (allow to clear my bank) for well established members. F2F possible in Texas for those near New Braunfels.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob
