Hey Guys,
What’s the best hotel to stay for an overnight in Jo-burg before heading out to Zim the next day? I stayed at the African Sky two years ago which was fine, but if there’s something more reasonable and easier that would be great. Thanks!

I always stay at the Holiday Inn near the airport. It has a restaurant and has free pick up and return to the airport. This will be the 4th year I have stayed there. Never had a problem.

The best is the Intercontinental at JNB:

The most reasonable is City Lodge at JNB:

You can't have both the best and most reasonable, pick one.

Just me I never like leaving the airport when I am flying out the next day so I always stay at City Lodge for $150. They have an awesome breakfast and dinner buffet and breakfast starts at 4am

Does City Lodge have a restaurant or bar that will be open late evening?
I "think" it's possibly as late as 10 pm, was there last year, had another member of our trip get delayed until nearly 9 pm arrival at City Lodge to check in, when we were finished eating the restaurant was fairly cleared out. Probably best to check with the hotel. I have stayed there several times and have been satisfied with accommodations, food and service, quick access to the airport.
Got a room at half rate to spend most of my departure day to go home that evening, as I had most of a day to relax after an early morning flight from Bloemfontein to J'Burg rather than sit in the airport, I really appreciated that. Bruce with Gracy Travel made those arrangements for me.

I’m staying overnight at the InterContinental in September, along with 3 buddies. Headed to Mozambique the next day. I’ve stayed at City Lodge before and it’s also fine. And like others have said, their restaurant is good.

As a resident Joburger, this is the answer if you need/want to stay at the airport.

I know for sure it was open late enough that you can get off of DL200, do customs, gather stuff, get to the hotel and still have time to eat. Me and a buddy did exactly that in May. Bruce made all of that go faster, including check in.

I am fairly certain the restaurant at City Lodge closes at 10pm. I stayed there Wednesday night. After flying Delta 200, I had plenty of time to get through the airport, pickup my rifle/permit, drop my bags in the room, and get down to the restaurant.

I have stayed at both City Lodge (3 nights) and Africa Sky (1 night).

After the long flight from Atlanta, I enjoy the convenience of walking over to the hotel, dropping the bags, and having a decent meal without the need to travel away from the airport.

If I was lounging an extra day or two after arrival, I would likely stay at Africa Sky. For a quick overnight, the convenience of City Lodge or Intercontinental is hard to beat.
