I can't agree with this more....I have stayed at Afton eight times over the years and number nine will be this August.
As has been noted by others, having Mr. X on your side is priceless. During covid, he worked
his charm several times for me and just having him to help with check-in for an Airlink flight
with a rifle makes things work very smooth.
About $150
Well, you would be still missing the Intercontinental.I think I will go Africa Sky in 2027 and see how that goes. Then I will have stayed at all 3. Afton, City Lodge, Africa Sky.
This is 100% my logic. A flight that departs after 12pm I’m picking Africa Sky or Afton. A flight that departs in the morning and in picking an Airport Hotel. No worry about traffic, flat tire, sleeping in or through an alarm with potential jet lag.I had thought Africa Sky was about $150 a night, but I couldn't remember for sure. I looked at an email for an upcoming trip and it looks like it is $200/night. But of course, anyone that has stayed there knows that also includes, airport meeting/assistance, shuttle, dinner &breakfast, and free drinks.
I haven't stayed at city lodge, but I have to imagine I would end up spending around $50 on food and drink.
I think the main benefit to City Lodge is you are in control of whether or not you miss your flight the next day.
Digressing who are you flying in with, arriving that night as well (meant to be driving up to camp assuming the flight arrives somewhere on time).I’m booked their the night of 8/7 before my flight the next day to Windhoek
