Texas, Louisiana, South Africa,
First off this will be a detailed as can be report. It will take several days to get it all done.
I decided to start the report while at Africa Sky after arriving back from Mozambique. Doing a night layover here before DL 201 on 29th June.

Planning for this trip started way back in July 2025. Starting emailing with outfitters that could provide me with the 63rd Birthday trip I wanted. Elephant and Hippo, both would be non export as I do not bring back trophies anymore. I would rather hunt than spend on taxidermy and shipping.

After researching and wanting a remote wild Africa hunt and corresponding with Rouan, Tsala ticked all the boxes I was looking for.
Dates were set and booked.

Specifics:
@TSALA HUNTING SAFARIS Mozambique
PH Brandon van Zyl
Trackers, Danny and Kenas
Travel: Jennifer @TRAVEL EXPRESS
Delta Airlines Comfort Plus
Firearms: CZ 550, AHR #2 upgraded 458 Lott, Leupold Patrol VX6 1-6, factory Swift 500gr Breakaway Solids
CZ 550 AHR #1 upgrade 375 HH, Leupold VX5 2-10 FireDot, Factory Federal 300gr Swift Aframes

6/11/26
Departed Houston for Atlanta. Basic flight, used points to upgrade this flight to first class
Arrived Atlanta and made it to terminal and met up with AH members @ Kurt Swanson and @Zinz. Had good visit and chat before flight. DL200 typical flight except picked up a nasty cough and congestion before landing. (It plays apart of rest of hunt)
Arrived late pm 6/12 met by Africa Sky VIP meet. Through customs and to baggage record time, except bag with ammo was a no show on carousel. That bag was being unloaded with rifle cases at a door near carousel. Claim it there then to SAPS to get guns. Gilbert had already left with a bunch from United Flight but sent a driver to get me. SAPS went smooth as usual using pre approval. Off to Africa Sky for over night.

I've been anxiously waiting for your report Mark! Im looking forward to reading about your experience.

Hope the hunt went well Mark, excited to read your full report. Hope you have a safe trip back tomorrow

6/13-14 spent at Africa Sky resting and enjoying some great meals.

6/15
Brandon picked me up around 8:30 am and started the long drive to the Mozambique Camp. We had good conversations along the way as what to expect and what will happen along the way. We made it to Kruger Gate and thru to Pafrui check point before 4pm cut off.
Mozambique paperwork was in order, they want copy of your eVisa and see payment receipt. We then went on to Dumela Camp for overnight. Tent Camp, no power but on banks Limpopo River. Very nice to start of safari. Brandon cooked up a steak dinner on fire and off to bed early

Looking forward to hear more! I was there in August 24 (for Buff) and had a great time. That was probably not the same camp though, as construction had started on the new one when I was there. And I believe it might be done by now.

Only got to meet Brandon for a short period while he was also in camp (I was hunting with Rouan), and he seems like a very nice guy.

Keep it coming!

Outstanding Mark, I've been waiting for this report. Anxiously waiting for more. Safe travels home.

Sleep was off and on. Listening to all the sounds in the night. Up and gone at 7am.
Moz has some pretty bad roads for sure. Non stop to camp and made it on around 4pm.
This is the new camp and man what a camp in middle of know where.
On way into camp about 3-4k from it we had first Elephant sightings. Young Bull I got quick pic of. But the big boy I could not. He crossed behind us and Brandon said close to 70lbs. Wish I could have got pic of him

New camp. Sure is nice. Solar power, donkey boiler for hot shower at night with a pressure pump. Back up mini solar lamps in room. Really nice fire area and dining area.

That camp has come a long way since I saw it. :) It looks really nice now.

At that time it was just some walls and a few sheds. But the work had started with clearing the ground etc etc. This is what it looked like 2 years ago.

That view north-north east towards the Savé river is beautiful.

Looks like an awesome adventure. I look forward to seeing more post about the trip.

6/17 First Full day
Up about 5am. Light breakfast and off at daylight. Started dragging roads and looking for fresh tracks. Covered many miles, looking and dragging. On way back to camp for lunch came across a 21 inch track where we had dragged earlier. Unloaded and hit the tracks. About an hour on them and Danny says no way to catch up to him, he is moving fast and not feeding. He was on a mission to go somewhere. Made wall back to truck and started toward camp.
Decided to rest a bit in camp and leave out about 3pm. Not feeling great. Dang respiratory crap from DL200 flight still messing with me. Left about 3pm and up to Save River. Walked about 2 hours along river and into bush. Saw Crocs, Hippo, 3 groups of Ele totaling about 30 animals. No shooter bulls in groups. Zebra and Impala. Back camp about dark.

6/18
Up and gone by 6:30am
Covered lots of ground driving looking for fresh tracks. Lots of ele tracks and sign, just no bigger fresh tracks to hit. Headed for some communal land, lunch break, and walked into some water holes looking for fresh tracks.
Back camp after dark. Great dinner and to bed.

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
