.577 (.585) Woodleigh bullets in a .577 Blackpowder Express double rifle

Now, the rifle is a Lyon & Lyon .577 Blackpowder 3", made year 1900 and regulated for 650 grain bullet and 167 grains of blackpowder.. Steel barrels, not damascus..

Can I safely use these bullets and maybe back a little off the load..? Anyone with experience here..? .585 Weldcore RN SN 650 grain.

The original lead bullets was .584, the woodies are .585.. Are they too hard for the barrels..? Can slighty overcalibrated bullets like these dramatically increase pressure..?
 
I wouldn’t use them - may be fine, maybe not…
I do know that Woodleigh makes .50s specifically for BPE rifles. I presume they have thinner jackets so they perform/expand at lower velocities better than the full nitro bullets would and maybe easier on the bores than a harder bullet as well.
Do they offer BPE specific bullets for the 577s?
 
I think they did, but hardly after the fire..
 
Nitro for black BPE loads, 650gr woodleigh 1827fps.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
