Hats on safari

I wear an "Adventure" hat; updated safari hat. Protects the head, face and ears.

after having skin cancer removed from both ears sides of my face and the top of my nose and on both fore arms I bought a Tilley and that is the hat for all wear now along with long sleeve shirts, no more ball caps for me. Going to take a bunch for the trackers and skinners this Sept.

I just bought a Stetson Gallatin for my next Safari.

I really liked the Filson Tin Cloth Bushhat with the leather drawcord.

I actually removed a bit of the wax to make it more breathable by using an iron and towel over the fabric. It was still somewhat water resistant, but much more breathable than a fully waxed hat.

The draw cord also allowed me to pull up the sides when I didn’t need full sun protection.

It was crushable and therefore packable so I didn’t have to worry about it on the plane or at times when I wasn’t using it. The wax finish also allows it to be cleaned easily. After days and days of sweating, it did not smell it all.

After getting home, I rinsed it out in hot water and let it dry in the sun…ready to take it out again!!

Nice looking rifle ☝️. Dare we ask what it is ? A Mauser action by the looks of it. Could it begin with R ?

I dont know if it has been mentioned I the 15 pages, but check out Shelta hats. I have Condor V2, Raven, and Seahawk V2. All are great. Hard brim, drawstring tighten if needed, and a strap worn multiple ways. Easily packs flat

My plan is to wear a full brim hat made by KUIU. I got one from in yesterday from a recent order. It has a drawstring around the head plus a removable chin strap. The brim seems to hold shape well while the crown is very thin and breathable. It feels like you only wearing the brim, lol. Very light weight.

Found this hat in my hat container… Bought it 20 years ago in Wyoming during a mule deer and antelope hunting trip.

I think I’ll wear it for my Ele and Buff hunt in October…
