Music Enthusiasts?

Found this little youtube clip of the Birad family (Franz Rythm) going for drinking water in Bohol. This is a very typical couple hours of daily life in rural Philippines. It also helps explain their unique quality in music. Additionally, I couldn't quite figure out the linguistic nuances in the narrative by Francisco. Turns out it is a blending of mostly Bisaya with an undertone of Tagalog accent.... probably intended to appeal to and communicate with their huge market in the northern Philippines and Manila, which is primarily a Tagalog language region. My linguistics authority who analyzed this for me happens to be here right now.... my daughter, who is home for a short break between college sessions. :)

I noticed another interesting thing in this low key video... watch for it. One of the girls is carrying a Visayan Tenegre on her right hip :) The Visayan Tenegre is a specific, regional style of general purpose machete that many generically and sometimes erroneously call a bolo. ;)

I'm mostly a fan of singer/songwriter musicians:

Gordon Lightfoot
Dan Fogelberg
John Denver
etc.

But, I may have been spotted once at a Slipknot/Disturbed/Mastodon concert...

When I was stationed at Ft. Lewis, a couple buddies and I had heard that there was a benefit concert to hire a detective to find Mia Zapata's murderer, and it was a not-too-well-kept secret that Nirvana was going to be headlinging. Seven bands for $7 to see Nirvana. So we were standing in line to get in and a couple of people from show management came out and saw our boots and short haircuts.
"you guys in the military?"
"yep", thinking we would either get tossed or let in for free
"want to do security? You get in for free and get to go backstage"
So we spent the next few hours tossing people off the stage and drinking with the bands. Met Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl. Kurt came in right before they were supposed to go on and left almost immediately after. Dave set up his own drums and hung out with everyone after the show.

This was also the last time Nirvana played as a trio.

Did any of you guy's "grow up" in the 90's and early 00' music scene?
80s, 90s here. Grew up on heavy metal and prog rock because of my dad. Went into boot camp just as Megadeth released Rust in Peace. Almost exactly a year later, metal died overnight by some band from Seattle called Nirvana.

By the 00s I was officially old and didn't really care for the nu-metal scene. Sort of rediscovering it now. Mudvayne's bassist is amazing.

I remember the first time I saw the Nirvana video. I'd been listening to punk and thrash, so this blew my mind. The late 90's were the best for me. The shows were incredible!

After posting links to various Franz Rhythm's outstanding covers of classics by ABBA, The Eagles, etc..... might as well add this cover of one of the most recognizable, Rhiannon, by one of the best soft rock groups, Fleetwood Mac. I always get a kick out of Dodz' mannerisms, chewing gum and doin' his own thing on percussion :)

Here's something I don't think you run across ever day :):) .... the Birad family band in Bohol Philippines playing a cover of Walk of Life, originally by the Brit band, Dire Straits in late 70s... written with a Cajun undertone. It's my understanding that Dire Straits purposefully created this with that Cajun "sound". Char does a masterful job of syncopating her keyboard with vocals and instruments to create that unique Cajun undertone. I have to reiterate the need for reasonably good listening equipment to fully appreciate and really hear all the nuances of music. Another thing I appreciate about Franz Rhythm is that they use no AI nor pre-recorded music underlayment in their recordings... usually just start recording and run with it in their home studio.

Here's a fun, informal jam by the Birad family band that features Dodz. They finally gave him a chance to do his thing- what a hoot! A classic by the Surfaris back in about '63.

Went to see The Joscho Stephan Trio last Wednesday and it was absolutely incredible!
I recommend you check him out if you’re at all a fan of Gypsy Jazz guitar.

One more by Franz Rhythm while I've got them on deck in the favorites queue. A cover from the "one hit wonder", Play That Funky Music by Wild Cherry. This really shows that the family members are not only extraordinary musicians and vocalists but have an incredible ear for capturing the sound and subtleties the original artists intended. Char's interpretation here is exceptional!

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
