Ruger M77 love them or hate them?

My Ruger 77 30-06, eventually I’ll have one in 338 federal and 7x57 but so far my Ruger 77s have never let me down.

I have a vintage 2006 RSM in 375 H&H; love the thing after the extensive work and $$$'s invested in it. A bit muzzle heavy but great shooter. I would like one-piece bottom metal though.
God I feel old now when you say a 2006 RSM is vintage! LOL I have the RSM's in 375, 416, and 458 Lott..... all early 2000's runs.........

My favorite is an M77 Hawkeye All-Weather in 30-06. It’s my “beater” because it’s absolutely bomb proof. Most of my rifles are blued/walnut. It’s nice to have a stainless rifle that I don’t have to worry about. A fixed 6x and a simple mountain sling. Fancy, it is not. But it points well and shoots minute of pie plate out to 350 yards from improvised field positions. Load development was finding out what was 1 grain below max and seating to the cannelure so it wouldn’t look funny.

After my uncle from Montana saw me trying to hunt white-tailed deer and mule deer in 1979 in South Dakota with my father’s Winchester M94 .30-30 with open sights as a teenager, he got me a new Ruger M77 .30-06 tang safety rifle. It is a shooter and very accurate. I shot a ton of deer and elk with it. My son has it now.

My dad was impressed and bought a 7mm Remington Mag and it sprayed bullets all over the target. We got rid of it. I guess it depends on the individual rifle/barrel.

I own or owned several M77 in all 3 versions. Good value, like them all. For those that complain about the triggers, the tang safety version rifles have an adjustable trigger. For the MKII version, instead of going the Timney trigger route, my local gunsmith has told me the Ruger trigger is very easy to polish and smooth out. The Hawkeye version rifles have a different trigger, the LC6, and it is easy for anyone to replace the spring with a lighter one and have a decent 3 pound trigger.

I’m a huge fan of Ruger M77 rifles and I’ve lost count of the number of Ruger M77 rifles I’ve owned over the years. Without going to the safe to count I can’t tell you exactly how many I currently have. About a dozen I’d guess. My absolute favorite is a Guide Gun 30-06. You can spend more but you won’t get a functionally better rifle than a Ruger M77/Hawkeye.

Hello,
I might be able to help you out depending on how many you need. I could probably spare 50-75 .285g A-Frames. They are factory pulls that look like new. Let me know if you are still looking,
Thanks,
Gary
