I have been trying to shoot a few animals with each of my old vintage rifles, use them on hunts not too far from home.

Taken a few nice Fallow Bucks over the years with my Gibbs 1893 Mannlicher Steyr in 6.5x53R, then Gibbs 1903 Mannlicher Schoenauer 6.5x54 (same load as 53R)

This year I took the WR Mannlicher Steyr 1893 in .375Ex 2 1/2in out for a few hunts & managed a representative Buck just on daylight, he was croaking nicely with half a dozen or more does around him.

Very nice buck Sarg, well done.
Your eyes can't be too bad if you're still getting it done with open sights.

Haha well yes & no, I actually pop on a pair of low powered reading glasses when I’m doing the final stalk, bloody hard when it’s raining, in low light, sweating in the bush going up hill !

I don’t know how hunters that wear glasses full time do it !

Thank you, but this is a Westley Richards in the above photo, has a Buffalo horn bolt knob !

Strangely while in Tasmania (a State known for its Fallow Deer) I didn’t collect a Fallow Buck with my Aussie Gibbs but a Tasmanian Roo or two instead.

I have now a pretty Jeffery’s 1903 to take out & a very nice engraved 1901 in .303 Brit

Not sure I’ll get a Buck with them either.

No I haven’t, but I haven’t shot anything with it yet !

I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands.
