458 african reloading dies for 458 lott

Hi guys, just picked up dies for my 458 lott and see they are marked 458 african. I emailed safari and outdoor Joburg and they said they had Lott dies so I just picked them up and paid. Now back at the hotel and see African. I suspect they will work because african is just longer. Please confirm for me if you know ?
 
@Nhoro One can load .458 Lott or Win with those longer .458 African die but…. Don’t expect to be able to crimp with them. The good news is that Lee Factory Crimp dies produce more uniform crimp via internal collet fingers! The Lee dies are cartridge length specific co Lott die won’t crimp the shorter Win Mag.
 
The cartridge 458 African is in my opinion something different than just a longer cartridge 458 Lott. Normally the latter is called 458 African Express or just 458 Express, but it seems to me that there are constant mix-ups.

We recently discussed this as @Gert Odendaal was looking for a chamber reamer for the cartridge 458 African, not 458 Express.

I found that the .458 African cartridge is based on the .404 Jeffery case.

I have been trying to figure everything out with dies and Lott brass. I think the Gunshop has got it wrong. Peering in to the die, I can see a chamfered step. If you look at the pic with unsized brass in the die, the lip of the brass catches on the chamfer for creating the neck. I then ran some brass through the die. It put an uneven chamfered neck. You can see one side has a shoulder and the other side does not. Base of the brass is loose in the die.

Thanks Mark, measuring the brass from my experiment, the dies are exactly that cartridge. Wrong dies from the gunsmith and now I am back in Zimbabwe with a waste of time.

You should make sure that all these cartridges in the future are labeled a bit better. That would save some of you, in particular the professionals, from a lot of trouble. It is certainly not that difficult, especially since someone like me, living in a forest of west Germany, am I able to distinguish between these various cartridges caliber 458 which were designed in South Africa.

I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
