Heym 98 Mauser custom, 9.3x62mm
Pre-64 model 70 375 H&H
FN Browning Olympian 375 H&H
Dumoulin 98 Mauser custom 400 Whelen
Winchester model 70 New Haven custom 400 H&H
BRNO 98 Mauser custom 416 Taylor
Winchester model 70 New Haven custom 458 WM
Dakota 76 458 WM
Winston Elrod pre-64 H&H length [1950] action custom 458 WM
Holland Royal 500-450 Nitro
Alfred Schilling 500 Nitro
Verney/Carron 577 Nitro

Last but certainly not least: 1951 Winchester model 70 standard rifle in 7x57mm.

With 175gr SS Northforks at 2625 fps and 160gr North Fork flat nosed solids at 2750, would I use it on everything from Duiker to Leopard to Eland? you bet I would.

Leupold man!
I try to setup just about everything the same so muscle memory can run them. No second guessing how to use safety, dial scopes, etc. I have a few outliers for day/night thermal etc but for most of my rifles CZ550 and Leupold scopes is the choice. From 243-505 they are all setup that way.

Beautiful!
Some of you that know me, know that I like to work up a rifle, take it on a hunt, and then explore something different and pass that rifle on down the line. Traveling has become such a pain to me as I age that I think I will stick with the traveler. Then again, without sounding gauche, I I do have some nice rifles that have never made the trip. I did have a friend take one over for me last year and got up bloody for me. :-).

We are alike although I nowhere near match you with the high quality rifles you obtain. I seem to purchase a DG rifle, set it up, use it and then sell it after the luster wears off. Now I am committed to keeping what I have and focusing on the hunting. Thankfully I’m not like this with women……anymore. :)

Just a few of my favorite things:

I’ve got a 404 Jeffery, 458 wind bag and my 8x68 for what I would call dangerous game, and a 17 hmr for hunting those scary rabbits, those huge nashing teeth, those …..sorry I digress
Gumpy
You Aussies seem to like your 404 Jeffery’s. You have all your bases covered but inquiring minds want to know what kind of rifles? CZ, Brno?

I've refined my battery to the following for this year's two Safaris
1) 1908 Westly Richards Droplock in .450NE
2) Pre-64 M70 Super Grade (Transition) in .375 H&H w/ Leupold VX6 2-12
3) Pre-War Rigby in .275 Rigby w/ S&B 3-12

In the past I've taken ...
Pre64 (Pre-War) M70 Super Grade in .300 H&H w/ Lyman 2.5
Pre64 (Transition) M70 in .300 H&H w/ Leupold VX5 3-15
Pre64 (1st Year Prod) M70 in .30-06
Pre64 M70 in .308Win
Along with a couple more modern production rifles for Plains Game

There are over a dozen different rifles .375 or larger that need to make a trip including a
1909 Rigby in .470NE and a Pre64 African Super Grade .458WM. There are also another dozen Pre-War built Plains Game Rifles in the safe waiting for their turn.

Hey Mark, I thought you recently acquired a Winchester M70 416 Rem too?
I did. Lasted about 3 weeks. After I did some work to it another AH member needed a Buff gun for upcoming trip so sold it to him.

Excellent setup. You have your leopard rifle with the 275 Rigby, your “heavy” 450 NE and scoped 375 H&H for longer distances or more precise shooting. All bases covered!

You're a good man, always helping people. But you’re pretty deadly with your 458 Lott!

Haaaaaa. Let’s make this clear. I would’ve gladly bought your Heym and killed with it. That may have been the one gun that I actually would’ve made money on. Great purchase! :-). I am cool with getting close to breaking even and moving on to the next one. Just a little level of entertainment for me.

The .375 will be my Leopard Rifle, at least for the first one.
I really want to complete the Dangerous 7 and Tiny 10 using a single rifle and am almost done.

Haha, thanks! Yes, I certainly thought about selling it until I handled and shot it. Now it must go to Africa and slay a buffalo!

.

Yes or no ? Oh what the hell .....

1/ Krieghoff .470 NE open sights
2/ another Krieghoff .470 NE open sights
3/ Beesley 450/400 3 1/4 inch open sights
4/ CZ 550 Magnun .416 Rigby Zeiss Conquest scope
5/ Krieghoff .375 H&H double Zeiss glass
6/ CZ 550 in .375 H&H with Leupold glass
7/ 9,3x74 Belgium double open sights

Am seriously looking at the Rigby .404 Jeffrey & will likely make it number 8 in the not too distant future!

Still possible to order one of these?

Hello,
I might be able to help you out depending on how many you need. I could probably spare 50-75 .285g A-Frames. They are factory pulls that look like new. Let me know if you are still looking,
Thanks,
Gary
