What knife are you carrying everyday right now?

Would love to have concealed carry in Australia - will never happen though.
@458JCE
I still do, even use it to trim the leaves off cabbage in the supermarket. It's never raised an eyebrow. I do it discretely.
I know one day someone will complain.
Bob

I've carried a knife as long as I can remember, well except on a airplane now. Pre 9/11 never had a problem carring on a airplane if you knew how to get away with it.
My everyday carry is a cheep knife Outdoor Edge Razor EDC Liite 2.5" its small blade are replaceable if its lost they only cost $19.95. But with the blades being replaceable theres no excuse not having a razor sharp knife all the time. Replacement blades are $9.95 for 6 of them,using a Lansky sharpener a little touch up and its razor sharp.
@coyote wacker
They are great little knives.
Bought mine off @Mark Biggerstaff from the shop he works at in El Campo Tx.
Mark made me a Godfather deal( you know the one you can't refuse). Handy knife for lazy people

@CoElkHunter
G96 copies the buck line of knives. The maker was Hatori in Japan and he developed a method of hardening and tempering his makers choice steel that rivaled anything buck could produce.
They are a very overlooked knife that are no longer made but are sought after by those in the know.
Bob
There would be nothing wrong with those Hatori knives at all. Maybe better than Buck. Remember when Weatherby had their rifles made in the Howa factory of Japan? They were MUCH better made with tighter tolerances and finishing as Weatherby’s original South Gate, CA shop’s tooling was getting worn out.

@Woodcarver
Don't have a need for underwear and haven't for well over 50 years but I always carry a folder nowadays even tho illegal in Australia but I don't give a shit because I feel naked without one. Until the outlawed the carry of sheath knives I always had one of those on my left hip but now it's an inconspicuous folder.
Bob
Bob, give up your camouflage thongs and put on some proper underwear. LOL

@CBH Australia
Don't leave it in the car mate. That's an offence in NSW. It's regarded as carrying a concealed weapon and has big big penalties upto and including fines and imprisonment depending on the court at the time. Even a simple box cutter or Stanley knife can get you in deep shit.
Bob
And I’m guessing if you leave your kitchen knives unsecured in your kitchen you could end up in jail peeling potatoes with a dull knife for the rest of the inmates meals. And no more Bundy in glass bottles. If the bottles are broken they could be used as even more efficient weapons than knives. LOL

@CoElkHunter
Ill keep my Camo things / flipflops mate
With the hot humid weather where I live in Australia 80 degrees and 95%humidity at 5.30am I would prefer to go commando than have roaster or rotten nuts.

This all falls into the "Too Much Information" file.

That's one thing I have to invest in is a good leather stop but finding one I like is hard, most are to long. Just want one 12" long and 2" wide with a nice padded leather handle on one end and a simple ring in the other. Most are to long
Love my CIVIVI button lock
Bob
I saw a few at an Antique shop in Burra last week. Probably a bit longer than 12” but not particularly long.

If you want something that short would you try a paddle strop on a board?

I can make you a strop like Evans, I make them with the eyelet for the top and a finger loop for the bottom, padded handles , whilst aesthetically pleasing, can be a weak spot

I’m gonna have to look into what the law is.

I know you can’t carry in public etc and I thought there was a maximum allowable length for a pocket knife/Leatherman blade if it’s on your belt etc

I think like most things it’s ok till it’s tested or the law misinterpreted or wrongly applied.

There has to be legitimate reasons to possess or transport knives etc Butchers and Chefs. When purchased etc.

Yes there are times police crack down in public places etc but that’s generally in the city and around events etc.

Honestly the real problem is the immigrants they let in that are doing the knife crime.

Machetes were banned in Victoria due a a certain stereotype using them in gang related violence The government spent millions on disposal bins and publicity but only hunters, campers,gardeners and fishermen were compliant .

Getting the machetes “off the streets” did not get them off the streets and the problem still exists.

Deportations, Public flogging and Harsh penalties have not been proposed by government to fix the problem.

THIS is a Ted Mitchell knife - handmade damascus steel with Woolly Mammoth scales

Nice Evan.

Couldn't Ted find any old scales - had to make do with scales from Pleistocene era :ROFLMAO:

LOL The Mammoth Ivory is special - with Buffalo Horn bolsters - and it holds an edge. The projectile was recovered from a scrub bull - 450gr Atomic29 from my 458 Lott. I once broke down 3 Fallow Deer with this knife before it needed a touch-up with the steel.

A good friend of mine made this set for me about twenty years ago. The handles are from a small cull buck I took back then and the sheath is made from his hide. The set resides in my hunting pack. That being said, a Mora resides in the same pack. When I first started hunting 40 years ago, I was given a Buck 110 and it still holds a special place on my belt. Shortly before the Christmas shopping season starts here in the US, there are ridiculous deals on Mora knives and I’ve found that they have made their way into every vehicle, pack and drawer to which I have access.
Daily pocket/carry duty, however, falls to a Buck 110 on the belt or a CRKT Squid clipped in the pocket.

A reason to possess a knife?
Would that not be I need to cut something?
Hell if nothing else how are you going to cut a chunk of the plug of tobacco?

I did that for a number of years. Red Man was my go-to.

Don't want a strop board mate , want it flexible. Even 18" plus handle and ring would be fine.
Ali Express has some but I'm dubious if the quality.

For an old fart Ted does some beautiful work.
I read something written by him recently that he was to tight to spend money on a custom knife so $15,000 setting up he now has his custom knife. He does it to keep busy and a lot of his knives have been given away as gifts
Ted is a great bloke and I'm proud to call him a friend.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
