New Mauser vs New Rigby

both come from the same factory in Germany ,the rigby may have a bit more staying power down the road , I would imagine they shoot the same or close ,the actions are the same barrels are very close the prices have risen a bit and they certainly make an ordinary original Mauser Oberndorf look like a bargain
@spike.t has a new production 7x57 mauser that shoots every bit the same as my Rigby Highland Stalker in 275. Zero difference i noted in person.

If they are both built in the same factory in GERMANY, I would go for the Mauser.

A Rigby built in Germany????

As far as I know, the action on the Highland Stalker and probably Big Game is sourced from Mauser and then finished by Rigby.
The Londons best series is built in-house by Rigby, that's what I was told by a Rigby rep some time back.

Both sweethearts but I would choose the Mauser.

I have nothing negative to say about Mauser, but when I had the opportunity to visit Rigby in London last year, I was beyond impressed at the skill, care and pride they put into their rifles. I would love to own one in the future.

I never knew any Rigby rifles were completely finished anywhere but London.

At DSC, I noticed the Rigby has significantly surpassed the Mauser in pricing. Around $14k for Mauser and over $20k for Rigby. For the life of me, I just don’t see that much difference between the two, other than styling. Both are equally well made IMO.

Mauser and Rigby are part of the L&O Holding in Germany, and therefore one can assume that some of the components are certainly manufactured at the same location for both companies, among other in Germany. A rifle with name Rigby is certainly finished in London and will have a brand-typical design. The same applies to a Mauser rifle finished in Germany. It is sure that it cannot be ruled out with absolute certainty that at times sometime more than usual is made on the one or the other side of the channel. But that should not be a problem; the result is what counts and above all the quality of the work delivered to the client.

Magazine box in Rigby/Mauser is it made to caliber like Heym = cartridge dont slide to front of magazine box?

I’d want to see which one fits me best. That would be my choice.

The new production 7x57mm Mauser Model 98 Expert or Diplomat both have long throats permitting the use if bullets weighing up to 177Gr.

The new production .275 Rigby Highland Stalker has a throat which (in it’s unaltered state) is shorter and more suited for weights no heavier than 150Gr. I was told this by a John Rigby & Co. employee in 2024.

Myself I would prefer a pre WWI commercial model of either maker.

It depends on what you mean by commercial model. So-called Zivilmauser rifles were manufactured by Mauser in Oberndorf already before WWI and are of relatively good quality. However, this corresponds to the standards of that time, not ours nowadays. Otherwise, many hunting rifles based on Mauser 98 actions were also built at this time by various gunsmiths and were therefore of varying quality.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
