thankfully mine is pretty well managed... regrettably it was pretty self induced.. I just didnt take care of myself for several years.. but I listened to my doc really closely, dropped a good bit of weight, got back on the exercise path, etc.. and got on a few pills (that I absolutely hate having to take.. but I suppose thats all part of getting old)... I generally keep an A1C around a 6.0-6.1 now..
All of that said, I managed to go from perfect 20/20 vision my entire life to 20/25 now (not horrible.. but definitely noticeable after having perfect vision for the first 50+ years).. that combined with astigmatism gives me some blurry vision and distortion at distances and can make me a little more sensitive to glare than I used to be...
Prior I mostly shot just wearing a typical set of oakley sunglasses, or occasionally would wear a set of wiley-x shooting glasses if it was overcast out or getting closer to dark.. I didnt realize how much my eyes were effecting my ability to shoot until I tried the Pillas.. I just thought I was losing my skill set, hadnt practiced enough, etc..
My youngest daughter was a competitive shotgunner, so we bought her a set of pillas with I think 5 different lenses for a christmas present one year.. she loved them, but I never thought twice about them until I just happened to try them on one day after she had them for a while.. it was like night-day difference for me in how clear the birds became and how much easier it was to track them..
I talked to my eye doc about them and he confirmed that the better polarization, the shade of the lenses (purple, orange, etc depending on conditions) would be much better for me for shooting because of the eye conditions I have... so I invested pretty deep into a set.. I think I ended up spending almost $700 once it was all said and done... but probably saved $700 in missed birds in just a year lol.. you can spend a lot more than that (some guys drop a couple of grand in their shooting glasses).. or you can spend a good bit less.. I think we only spent maybe $300 on our daughters kit..
Zeiss produces the glass for Pilla.. so very precise, high quality, etc..
