Good Gun Deals This Week

May or may not be a “deal”, but there are a handful of Winchester Mod 70 Alaskans chambered in 375 H&H floating around right now. I picked one up on Gunbroker for a price that I felt was reasonable.

Cabela's has a left-handed Sako AV in 375 H&H for $2k. I'm posting a link to it mainly because I'm a Sako fan & LH rifles with a larger magnum-sized action don't pop up every day. Since it was chambered for a classic African cartridge, I thought it was worth a mention:

For anyone in the market for an entry-level 1911, I have been rather impressed with Taurus' improvement in quality over the last several years. I can't speak to this specific model, but the PT1911 and the other recent Taurus models I own (e.g. the TX-22) have been very solid. At this price ($413), it's hard to go wrong:

For people looking for a Nikon 1-4

No affiliation to the seller, I purchased one he had and he still has two. I “made an offer” of $325 and it auto accepted so it may go even lower.

I hate Nikons BDC circles, but in real world use the eye treats it as a normal heavy crosshair and I just don’t use them for holdovers.

It’s a Monarch 3 but supposedly the same scope as the African just renamed.

I offered $250 and it auto declined, so its somewhere in between 250 and 325 :)

Looks like Winchester is making Model 70 Safari Express in 416 Remington again. Two places have emailed me in stock notifications. I would jump all over it if I hadn’t just bought a Model 70 Alaskan in 375 H&H. Better get them while you can. Hinterland outfitters had it for $1575 but now shows out of stock. Midway is a little more but cheaper that gunbroker will be selling shortly.

just saw Euro Optics has one Sauer model 100 9.3x62 in stock for 1251.00 but by boing a member of Africa Hunting you will get a discount I know I did when I bought mine a few months ago.this rifle has the 14.5 lop so you might want to shorten it and put a good pad on it I did.the stock is Beechwood. I really like mine

While checking out some of my regular rifle searches this morning, I had one item appear that I'm not sure how to evaluate properly. It's a Dakota 76 with a custom hex barrel chambered in 416 Nitro Express for $3,500. Obviously the Dakota 76 is a popular rifle. The barrel style reminded me of the custom rifles made by Champlin Arms. The cartridge it shoots is powerful but an unusual selection. I didn't know if these choices made it unique in an intriguing way or an odd way. I will leave that up to the viewer to decide.

Looks older and doesn’t look like a Dakota made rifle. I don’t know what 416 Nitro Express is supposed to mean, but I’m guessing the undesirable 416 Rem Mag?

My opinion is that it was a Dakota purchased action and then a custom builder cobbled together a rifle on that action.

I’d have to have more pictures to 100% validate my initial opinion.

I can’t find anything in a 416 nitro express. Does anyone more knowledgeable than myself know if it is its own cartridge? Or if it’s just meant to mean the 500/416 nitro? Or is there a rimless 416 nitro? 416 rem mag?

Not sure if it’s a good deal or not, but I was in McBride’s Guns in Austin, Texas this afternoon. They had a Rizzini .500 NE double rifle on consignment for $12K.

…I suppose I should have taken a picture of it for y’all. :/

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
