Westley Richards 425

@Red Leg
It is my understanding that the claw mounts were added in the mid 1950’s in the UK. As you know, the WR mounts were difficult to make and faded out in the late 1930’s, and the H&H mounts were quite costly. I have several guns that had scopes added in the 50’s and the German claw mount seemed to be the direction most chose in that time period.

JJ is a good friend, he lives a little over an hour from me, he currently has a Maharajah engraved 425 WR that is the finest 425 in my collection. It has an octagon bbl (original from the factory)
I consider him a friend as well, though the distance is a little farther. Again, that is a wonderful rifle. Were it mine, I would set it up with a Z8 and go hunt something large and angry.

JJ is a great guy.

I’ll head your advice, and try to get this gun on a trip in the future! I’m getting on a plain as we speak for Africa. Taking a .425 WR (not the one in this thread), A Rigby Rising Bite 450 NE, and a 1930’s Holland 300 H&H.

Rhino and plains game on this trip.

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
Two African Safaris Hunted South Africa both times,
9 game animals taken
