I see Rigbys recently completed a pair of rising bite double rifles in this calibre. Beautiful , but of course they carry a price tag. I wonder if any of the bigger volume less expensive suppliers will be producing doubles in this chambering?

500/416 NE 3 1/4" has a head start and for some unknown reason has not been so popular so I dont see any of the other manufacturers jumping on that and wagon.
Comparing case capacity it apears the Rigby version has a smaller case and at those velocities I would go with the 500/416 NE.
Great caliber both of them...

I am curious about this as well. I haven't came across many doubles in 416. It seems most 416's are in bolt guns. Maybe someone can explain why that is? I am getting into these big bore guns so I am trying to learn as much as I can.

Heym does the 89b Africa Frame in 416 Rigby regular, here is one, so I am certain they will do it in 416 No2 as well. There is the answer to my own question.

True. The Rigby version of course brings the name.

Rigby makes some nice rifles! The 416 no2 is in the same ballpark as the 416 rigby and the 500/416. With the new rounds being developed for most all platforms will be interesting to see if it becomes mainstream with other manufactures building for the round. I have a 500/416 and to the best of my knowledge the Krieghoff and Blazer S2 are the two that you see most often.

Would love to have a Rigby but they are out of my price range.

If I understand it correctly the .416 No 2 is exactly the same case as the regular .416 Rigby aside for the addition of the rim/flange. The .500/.416 on the other hand is a much larger case and therefore brings lower pressure to the table?

Nr 2 is the same basic brass, it can use the same reloading dies as 416 Rigby. But have you ever found dies, brass and reloading data?

I just calculated the price in C$. It certainly comes with a price.

Yes KJ, that is my understanding too.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a member since 2015 but haven’t been active since 2017. Life got busy, especially with building my second business. Still, I’ve kept my passion for hunting and followed things from afar. Now that I have more time, I’m excited to reconnect, contribute, and be part of the community again.

All the best,
