Hi Everyone,

As you guessed I am a new member on this forum. I was born and raised in Hungary, started to hunt over there then moved to the US in the early 2000s (TX, TN and finally MN). By profession I am veterinarian working in academic setting. I hunt for the adventure and the experience and enjoy traveling to unusual places from Africa to Asia. Sadly, I can rarely do it due to limited time and money. I enjoy precision rifles but lately developing an interest in single shots.
Thank you for the opportunity to join the forum, Ferenc

Welcome to AH.

Thank you for the kind lines, I am looking forward to learning from and contributing to the forum!

If you are interested in living in a great country with outdoors at your fingertips, we are DESPERATE for vets up here just north of MN border. City of 110K but feels much smaller. All the amenities.

Thank you for the kind words. I would love to live in a more rural environment (vs. near the Twin Cities) but my University appointment ties me and my family here. However, as my kids get done with their schooling I will hopefully have the chance to move into a more rural area... Also, I am an equine (horse) surgeon by speciality which limits me to an area with a large enough horse population. But during my visits I always loved Canada, so who knows...

Few horses here. Climate/terrain does not lend itself to them. Too rocky, swampy, buggy. I am from Montana originally and formerly kept my own pack string and packed for the govt. Still have all my tack. Would love to get back into it but at age 72 I'm nearing the last roundup and need to plan for it I guess. I take my dogs to UM vet hospital when they need attention. You must have an office right across the street? My late great Lab Pearl is something of a legend there. The only dog oncoligist Dr McVey had seen in twenty-two years that not only survived glioma brain cancer but recovered 100%! It is a beautiful campus. Unlike the one here! Ugh. My late wife took a position on staff and that's what brought us in 89.

Welcome from Chaska Minnesota

I'll chime in as another Minnesotan, 1/2 Minnesotan now since I'm now a snowbird. I'm also into single shots so I'll likely chime in if you start posting on this forum.

Hi Rafiki,

So what single shot(s) do you have? What you buy if it was your first single shot?

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
