Apples to apples which is the better DR. Not asking about calibers only in quality of the brand.
Thank you all

I have owned both and would say easily the VC for my taste.

I had a terrible experience with Chapuis, I now have a new VC on order.
What did you order? If I was looking for a double, I would take a hard look at the VC in classifieds now. I think VCs are UNDER rated.

I own both and both are great, but the fit and finish of the VC is better. I've had the VC for 12 years and it has been flawless. Of all the rifles I've owned and still own, including some vintage British doubles, it is still my favorite rifle.

I've owned and handled a good variety of double rifles and one of the things about my VC 500 that I really liked was how smoothly it closed with a light touch but locked up tight like a bank vault. No need to use your knee to open it like some of these stiff guns. They also balance and handle well, which is so important. Mine had good triggers also.

The way that you guys are describing the quality of the VC is making me begin to believe that I should probably just keep both of mine, rather than selling one! I've never held or shot one of the Chapuis rifles, so I can't offer any insight there. I do frequently notice that they have exceptionally nice wood grain, which is always appealing to me. I can tell you that I am extremely satisfied with all aspects of the VC. @Green Chile 's observation above is spot on in my experience. Easy to open and close, but locks up tight. Tight machining tolerances but still smooth functioning throughout.

What happened with your Chapuis then?
The bluing process wasn't done properly, there must have been bluing salts left behind after the cleaning process. A significant amount of corrosion started to appear coming out from under both the top and bottom ribs on the barrels. I sent it back and got a full refund, to the distributors credit they were great to work with and didn't question the refund at all and were very easy to deal with.

I see, I thought they had better quality control than that. Sounds like your distributor was great anyway, to bad that the rifle were not. Hope your new one is better, aside from the problems with Kevin Peacokes Verney-Carron I dont recall ever reading anything negative about the brand. They sure look great!

Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
