Just got my email from Safari Cargo Solutions saying my crate(s) are ready to ship and requesting payment. There are 2 crates (one with my buddies trophies and one with mine). All work was dip and pack - no finished product. My crate contains 2 zebras, a kudu, an Impala, a red Hartebeest, a warthog, a blesbok, 2 Wildebeests (1 blue - 1 golden). My buddy's crate contains a Cape Buffalo, a zebra, a warthog, a golden wildebeest, and a bush pig. Total cost of both crates via Air from JSA to JFK is $3,520.51. We are splitting it, so $1760 each. I gotta say - it's a tad cheaper than what I was expecting.

We need the measurements of the crates to actually see what they are charging. Even with as well as they pack and shoehorn the hides, skulls, and horns into a crate for just dip and pack there are a lot of variables in the sizes.

Jim-
Does this help?

The shipment comprises of 2 x wooden cases with the following logistics:

Chargeable mass: 305 kg

Actual mass: 286 kg

Dimensions (in cm)

CrateLengthWidthHeight
11179481
11329079

That’s in the shipping range I’d expect lately. It’s the final clearing in the US that’s been a bigger unknown. Your buddy’s bushpig and warthog may add some extra time to shipment. I’d suspect you’ll get yours first.

That’s a very fair price.

Just wait till I post about the bad shipping experience I’m going through right now getting my Cameroon trophies home. I’m waiting to have them in my possession before posting.

this past May mine cleared in 7 days in Chicago, Buff, Sable,Kudu,Zebra,2 warthog euros and Zebra back skin.

Thanks for sharing......I hope to see mine in the next few months and always curious of what current costs are.

cost was 3200.00 from PE to Chicago on Turkish Airlines because of the Buffalo, would have liked to use Delta like the year before but they don't ship Big 5 due to the anti's

Some of these "clearing times" are scaring me. I have been told there is an extra step involved being as we have swine. I will keep you all posted on the time mine takes.

My crate will be departing RSA, en route to JFK in what I hope is the next couple of weeks. I shot 12 Plains Game animals. 5 will be straight up Euro, 7 heads to be mounted in the States. Cost: $1,772.

One of the worst things about shipping right now is that the airlines have gotten disgustingly greedy and are charging $200-$300 per day to store even a very small item. So they create a scenario where it needs to be stuck with them and then they charge insane prices to store it.

It's extortion, but you'd be hard pressed to get anyone in society to feel bad for hunters who are being screwed over on getting their hunting trophies from another country.

Did your crate ship yet?

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
