I just put a sporter 1909 Argentine mauser on layaway today, I'll have the rest of the money by Monday. I've got plans to build a 9.3x62, I am pretty sure what I want in my head but would like to see others post pictures of theres. Maybe even say what you like and maybe don't like. Guess I want to build a safari type rifle maybe with some German touches.

edit, this rifle will be used with my other 09 Argentine that John van Patten built me before passing, it's a 7x57ai and still really is not finished, I did the stock work and John barreled it and did all the metal work.

Here is one I have been playing with for a while, Zastava M70 8x57 rechambered to 8x64s and I have been really enjoying shooting this round.
It has a prettier stock on it now but I cant seem to find the picture.

nice did you have to open the bolt or rails any, isn't the x64 about .500 diameter.

Being very cautious as I've been burned in the past by criminals in urban areas (guns went missing!) I'd advise people NOT to post any fine gun pics to someone not having many posts on here. ;) This comment is not directed at the original poster, but....I'm known for my all black plastic <$300USD weapons. ;) Any better ones are strictly reserved for activating the Castle Doctrine...Based upon my life experience, I'd take those duties VERY seriously! :)

Very nice rifle, I don't need a magnum I'll just be hunting New York so I figured 9.3x62 would be a good match for my 7x57ai plus it's was made to fit a standard mauser action.

I should have gotten one of those dumoulin actions when sarco had them.
I would like to do a metal grip cap but the Richards micro fits stock I'll probably use is cut for wood, maybe I can make a steal one work. I would like a nicer stock but the Richards is in my budget, think I can get an AA grade Carlo walnut semi blank for under $200.
again beautiful rifle.

Where in Upstate NY Troy?

My E.J. Churchill 7x57mm Mauser, built in 1967 on a Yugoslavian military surplus Mauser 98 action with the stripper clip ear guides ground down. I bought it in 1989 and used it two weeks later to hunt my third and final man eating Royal Bengal tiger, before retiring from my post as D.F.O. Today, it sees use on mostly Chital deer, Kakar deer and jungle boars.

I'll have to find a few 9.3x62 cases and a few bullets to check the feeding before I start the build. I'll have to check the lugs for any set back, but I couldn't feel anything with my finger at the shop.

k the hudson valley is not really considered Upstate NY (it's all commuters to/fro NYC.) :p the people that live there think so, but...i'll forgive it. 'have to drive through there to jobsites and my taxidermist is there as well.

are you headed to Africa w/ the 9.3?

lol we were then got invaded by city people. At one time Orange county made more milk, apples, onions then anywhere in the us.
i agree w/ that. they really need to learn how to drive, get a driver's lic., insurance-you know what i mean. steer clear of mini vans doing 90 w/ the bumpers hanging off and strange clothing....

*it still makes the onions-i passed through the "black dirt" region just tonight and saw truckloads being harvested

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
