He said they are white amur. A sterile algea eating fish. Basically a carp I believe?
Anyone have any knowledge of these fish ?

I have two in my pond right now, each between 3-4 feet long. They're used for weed control, but mine are so big I think they only eat fish food now. We were told our grass carp would live 7 years max, that was about 8 years ago.

Used to bowfish for common and grass carp back in the day. Too much fun.

How large is this body of water? Any other fish stocked?

So let me get this straight. The fish are sterile. The fish eat the algae. When the fish die, what happens to all the algae they ate? And how is this considered sustainable?

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.
