SOUTH AFRICA: My PH/Guide/Tracker Was Not Human

Awesome report Sir! I enjoyed it very much, and laughed a lot. You have a self-deprecating humor which is refreshing. Thank you!:A Big Hello:
Thank you.
I believe that the ability or at least the willingness to laugh at ourselves helps keep our stress levels down.
Stress levels low = gas levels low.
That’s why people with permanent frowns are always farting.

But also it keeps us humble. And humble people get to see more in life because they’re not always looking down their noses. ;)

What a great report, and I'll have to say the funniest one I've read so far. You have a way with words, and if you wrote a book of all the stupid sh*t you've done, I'll buy it.

Where in SD where you? I've been to going to Winner SD since 2000. Love that area.

:giggle: Thanks. Maybe I should. There’s just so much material.
I was about 20 miles straight north of Fort Pierre along the Oahe reservoir. The farm I was running there was 34,000 acres all in one junk. It was loaded with river breaks and draws. Great hunting for whitetail, mule deer, antelope, coyotes, prairie dogs, sharptail grouse, pheasants, prairie chickens, jack rabbits, and the occasional prairie rattlesnake.
In fact, last night I started another thread about one experience I had with prairie rattlers so I might hear about other hunters’ interruptions by snakes while hunting. Some good stories there too.

Oh yeah, I read that one already.:LOL: Never made it that far north, hunted the N. of Winner but not too far from town.

Thanks for the write up,enjoyed your report and wit. In 19 African hunts the best trackers I've seen were also from Zimbabwe, they had grown up as cattle herders and learned to recognize all of the cattle by the tracks and could follow them anywhere.

I finally made the time to read about your experience and I want to thank you for posting it. Could be the best report I've read! Thank you so much for taking me along with you and Libert on your hunt. You obviously had an amazing time! You got a couple pretty impressive animals too. How have you decided to display them?

After the hunt and before receiving the crate I had decided to move again for work so I had pretty straight forward shoulder mounts done since I didn’t know where I’d be or where I’d put them yet.
So after we got settled I walled off a space in my shed from my bar/critter cave.
Here are a some pics.

That man cave.. Big thumbs up! (y)
Thank you. I was happy with how it turned out in the end. Still some odds and ends to finish up.
Here is the final result end to end.

@RandyF
Only problem I see in your man cave mate is that bloody ugly mount behind the bear you should remove it as it spoils the vibe.

Oh my gosh! Bob! Thank you so much! You just saved me a whole bunch of legal trouble! I forgot to put the warning up! (I’m required by law in most states in the US and South Africa.). Phwew!!

Please see below.

That’s actually my wife’s fault. She thought that the size of the Kudu made a 425 lb black bear look too small. So frankly, She made me stand there for size reference. :cautious:

Ok I'll believe you but really I thought your taxidermist might have done your missus a great deal to keep you young.
Can't blame the wife mate you arranged them in the first place.
Bob.

It is truly a but ugly trophy. Your wife should have it removed to the living room near the fire place. It sure would scare the shit out of any kids getting to close to the fire. How does your beautiful loving wife cope with it.
The only time I've seen anything that would make that remotely look good was WHEN I LOOKED INTO THE MIRROR but I can't really be sure as at the sight the mirror shattered.

Sooo....Australia does require warnings? Cool! Maybe I should plan a hunting trip for there and New Zealand.
