I never wanted one until or government decided I couldn't own one.
You need to do some math on what your government is allowing.

I did some right after they announced the new rules and the 460 Weatherby falls well below what they allow

.460 weatherby = 10175 jueles
Yep, I was about to come back and backtrack and admit that what I posted was wrong. I had done the math for another round and somehow was thinking that I had done it for the 460. I just redid some of the math and came up with 10847 for one of the Weatherby factory rounds.

How does the Canada law work? If ANY load can exceed 10K joules is that on the bad list, or if the AVERAGE loading exceeds it? Many of us will be in the same boat if Dems win............lots of guns will become illegal, I fear........Best of luck with the sale on the MkV...........FWB

Sounds like a rifle for a non-factory cartridge might work. or a new name, the 460 Wby becomes a .460/416 Rigby belted.

I hope this doesn't mean I have to pull all the bullets, remove 5gr of powder and reseat the bullets just to make my 460 Wby legal. It must be the firearm of choice for all domestic terrorists. But they will be easy to find, they are the ones with the bruised and sore shoulders. I just read that as Canadians we can with federal government approval sell our now prohibited firearms to buyers outside Canadian borders.

And to think that in 1975 my wife and I were considering emigrating to Canada. Seeing how things have gone since they went off the rail in 1978-9 and have been on a downward spiral since then, we certainly are thankful the deal fell-through. Just how many rifles with over 10,000 joules are used to commit crimes in Canada, or worldwide for that matter? Oh well, Canada, you have my sympathy.

Somehow I need one of these! Looks in great condition.

I would imagine the 10000 J number has to do with anti-tank ordinance. But 9500 doesn’t.

Thanks Ray, FYI there are numerous petitions launched, at least two court challenges by reputable firearms advocacies initiated and at least fifty hunting and sport shooting organizations official letters of protest directed at the current Liberal minority govt. It appears that the Prime Minister and his cronies have used the Covid19 pandemic to pass an Order in Council banning at least 1500 models of firearms including some airsoft models, all shotguns 12 and 10 gauge, a coffee company and a porn website. Just my opinion but this is an example of their true leadership abilities. I know that this is probably not the forum for this and I apologize, but knowledge is power.

You really need to put a price on it if you ever plan on selling it .

I am not surprised that no one has offered you anything as even if they wanted it they probably know enough to not deal with themselves

At one time I had many used Weatherbys in the rack, but one in particular, a 460, took 11 years to sell because it was "different ". By different I mean it had a truly ornate hand carved stock in a African ani al motif. It was a beautiful job, but was kinda like a guy driving a bright red H-1 into his job in a downtown highrise every day. It was a "look at me" gun that went well hanging on the wall in the library under a set of tusks.

Not being the end user it wouldn't make sense for me to buy a gun for a grand and add a c note to the out the door price and watch it sit there sand with that any possibility of making anything on the sale.

Quite a few fine 460's have been for sale here yet I have never seen one sold here. I have seen many I stances of the seller being worked over by people who don't like Weatherbys or the rounds.

Thanks I will do that

It appears to me the Canadian government is after ALL of it’s law abiding citizens’ firearms? Why are large bore (presumably bolt action/low magazine capacity) 10,000 joule rifles AND shotguns lumped into the ban list of 1500 semi-auto, large magazine capacity rifles? They antis of everything firearm and hunting related here in the U.S., have and will continue to try and do the same here, so all of us need to continue our vigilance!

I am sure every law abiding firearms owner in Canada is totally baffled by this Liberal govt imposed (use of Order in Council has a greater power than any US President may hold) change in Canadian law and yet every question presented to Liberal representatives in our parliament is danced around and not addressed. The biggest hope I think we have is that the current Canadian Federal government is in power as a minority government. An aside note: magazines with a capacity of greater than 5 rounds in centerfire long arms have been prohibited in Canada since the 1970's as well as any firearm capable of automatic fire.

Surplus lee endfields must of been pardoned from that bill? Every one I've ever handled had a ten shot magazine with the exception of on which had a twenty.

.577 NE is right at the cusp of the 10K joules limit as well.
