Hi folks,

Being a sentimental old fool I am unwilling to put a drill bit into a my 9.3x62 round bridge receiver.

So, having asked around, it seems I could put something like a nice light red dot sight in the barrel mounted dovetail (15-13mm top to bottom and 15mm square)

by having a gunsmith mill one of these to fit the dovetail.

Which with a larger "key" would look like this and the reflex sight sits on top, held on by the screws.

So, my question is folks: Which reflex sight?

Trijicon RMR - Seems to be some use of these on DG rifles and has a 1 MOA dot

Leupold Delta Point - Comes highly recommended

Bushnell Fastfire 3 - Got the 3MOA dot version, been on the slug gun

Something else I'm not thinking of.

Thanks in advance,

Scrummy

PS Thought reflex as lighter than Aimpoint and I can't find anything similar for an Aimpoint

I have been using the new Kahles red dot, and like it better than the RMR, Vortex Razor. Have never shot the bushnell, burris, or leopold. Have on my 9.3 double and my wife has one on her 375 H&H. The screen is just a bit bigger than the RMR and to my eye it works better. At DSC this year I walked back and forth between Kahles, and trijacon booths and compared them over and over. Haven't had a chance to hunt with it yet but so far at the range I am happy with mine.

How about a scout rifle scope? It has the advantage of magnification at longer range.

Just pick one that you don't have to remove from the mount to change the battery.
Other than that, I believe you are on the right track.
Good luck with it.

Thanks, hadn't thought of Kahles, will look into it

I think that is a very good point. Bugs me about the RMR that...

Not necessarily a bad idea but not sure would mount well to the existing dove tail (Single point and rather heavy I think)

The Kahles battery change is on the side so you don't have to remove from mount to change it

i use the burris fast fire, have had it on my 416rm for years now
never gone out of zero(quick detach mounts on a blaser) never had to adjust and shot a lot of still and running animals, mostly with quick reaction shots

battery you change from the top
actually it looks quite similar to the kahles and the button is on the left side so works well with your left thumb while hand cradles the stock

What about a ghost ring rear sight. NECG have some very good ones that are quite fast and accurate. It would look more traditional than the reflex.

That's good to know, I have a 3MOA FastFire III on a scout picatinny rail on my .44 mag lever action. It's a hoot to shoot...

I have a Rigby style cocking piece sight on the rifle but I would like to put a red dot where the express V sight is on the barrel band:

The new Kahles sight is nice.

Do you find that the 4 settings on the Kahles are enough? The one thing I have found with the fastfire is that it flairs a bit unless very dim...

Sight docter is an excellent product, the other options discussed are either made by them or are inferior knock-offs of them.

Docter looks good but I don't like the look of having to take the sight off to change the battery...
