Best bolt action rifle for $2000 or under

If it were indeed “fact” it would be documented and substianted yet I haven’t been able to find any substantiation other than one case: the infamous blowup from a super high pressure handload. I’ve seen correspondence from Blaser pertaining to this and it’s the only case I know about or Blaser mentions. Blaser was quick to react to the rusty parts/inadvertent firing issue, so I lean towards giving them the benefit of the doubt vs internet scuttlebutt.

You are correct the R8 replaced the R93 for the most part. If I’m not mistaken, R93 production halted in late 2017. If there was a problem, I’d like to think Blaser would’ve stopped production a whole lot sooner. The R8 is better suited to larger chamberings/calibers (hence its redesign from what I gather) but it also weighs a fair bit more.

Doesn’t matter since you’re not interested in it, but it has been an interesting conversation.

As I recall it was more than one rifle that this happened with. But that said, did the proof that the rifles blew up due to excessively hot loads include pictures of the brass to show it? I don't remember seeing any pictures of brass that would lend to this being the case.

That's not to say I know or have an opinion on what happened, I'm quite firmly on the fence on this one. But Blaser has a vested interest in denying it was their rifle that was the problem. I'd prefer to see some independent research that proves it one way or the other.

I should have figured! :)

How did you like the Estonia and Finland hunts? What did you hunt for, etc?
We hunted capercallie in Finland (Lapland) great experience in wonderful wildernesss.
Estonia was good lots of game but crap food, we were hunting moose I did not get one but my friend shot a massive cow moose. We are hunting there in October 2 days driven Moose and Boar. I will write a report on my return. Estonia is very affordable.

I've been contemplating a build on one of these actions for a hunting rifle. Large number of stock and trigger options considering it's a Remington 700 footprint. Good price and with a premium barrel, stock and trigger, one could come in around $1800.

Thanks Mark. If you don't mind what type of pricing?

No problem mate. 4 nights accomadation all found 230 euros. 2 days hunting 260 euros. Hunting licence 50 euros. Boar starting at 100 euro up to 600 depending on size of tooth. Moose starts at 300 euro for 2-4points sliding scale up to 8-10 points 700 euros.
So 540 euros before a shot is fired. if you shoot the biggest boar in the forest 600 euros. Big moose 700. As you know you never know what will come by you on a driven shoot so take enough to cover it.

I couldn't believe my eyes when my 2.4 million dollars was recovered. I’m truly grateful for their service and I feel it is right that I put this out here for anyone who might require their services.

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
