What to buy???

Leupold VX5 1-5 firedot GREAT scope for the $$$ AND US Made!

Congratulations on the new rifle. Pretty sure you will love it. You will have many choices on a scope if you can go up to $1000. The .375 is an easy 200 yard gun and can be a 300 yard gun. Maybe more with young eyes! You have to decide if you are going to use it on DG or PG. If PG, you can use higher power, if DG, you only want lower such as 1x5 or 2x7. Either way, enjoy the research and have a good time!!!

Leupold (I have a VX5HD on my 375 H&H), Sh*t & Bend Me Over, Swarovski, and don't forget Trijicon. I would have bought one of them if I hadn't found a good deal on the Leupold.

Vote whole heartedly for the .375 H&H. Platform will be more of a personal choice but I would recommend taking a 2ND mortgage and getting into a Blaser R8!!
I love my R8 , including the semi-weight barrel in 375 H&H.

UPDATE: Fellas, thank you all for the advice. I ended up finding a sweet Ruger Mark II RSM 375. Beautiful quarter rib with express sights. Brand new and got a steal for it. I will post pictures once my FFL receives.

Now part 2:

What kind of scope to put on this bad boy? 800-1000 dollar range. Thoughts... ? Looking at Lecia, Leopold etc....

You realize of course that your post regarding this purchase while not without value lacks greatly without pictures! ;)

Is Leupold really American made? I think US optics is the only scope company making lenses in America. Everyone else goes to the far East or Europe.

I've seen their plant, while lenses may get sourced overseas, the amount of components manufactured there and sourced here let alone the building of said products is impressive. However, when it boils down, there will always be something being sourced either as a raw material or pre-manufactured or specified component coming from overseas. As long as its a quality made product and they aren't overcharging, nothing wrong with that in my book.

I have nothing against Leupold, or most of my rifles would not be wearing their products. I just think that "made in America" is not the best measure for selection. In America, we can vote with our dollars, though, and that's fine.

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
