Fellow members,

With the amount of different travel cases out there, someone is bound to have on like this or very similar. Kimber gave this to me when I purchased my Talkeetna a few years back due to some minor issues with the recoil pad . It looks similar to a Pelican, but I can only look at pics online for comparison.

It certainly seems beefy and sturdy enough for airline travel. I was surprised at the limited foam it came with however, one sheet about half as thick as the depth of the case and no Velcro straps to hold a gun down.

For you Pelican guys, what do you think? Pelican is the closest thing I have found that is similar to this case.

Thanks in advance!

Get some high density foam and you should be set.

Kind of bizarre that the locks have exposed screws. I makes me doubt its security.

Hard to tell from a picture. The look is similar to a Hardigg case, but the thickness and quality of the plastic is really the key to whether you want to trust it to protect your rifle. When you pick up a wall mart plastic case, it is light and easy to handle. When you pick up a Pelican, you think "good lord this thing is heavy". If it doesn't feel surprisingly heavy for size, it is probably too flimsy to trust on a plane, but perhaps perfect for a car trip with proper foam in it.

@Bert the Turtle ,

Definitely not a lightweight thats for sure. I'll search online for Hardigg and see how it compares

I'd bet my next paycheck that case is a hardigg.. those are the same latches you'll find on military hardigg's, same handles, etc..

Hardigg is good quality (Hardigg, like Storm is owned by Pelican by the way).. and is extensively used by the US military for sensitive equipment storage and transport..

I have one that looks identical made by Boyt.
You can find hd foam at a packaging company of any density you want. Tharco is one national company. I just don't know if they sell to individuals.

Pelicancasesforless.com also has the foam available.

This certainly might be the one! Looks very close! Thanks for the input

If you choose to use this thing in air travel, I'd think about stepping out the screw heads. Far too easy to open as it sits. Unless you lock every place... Also a good idea. I had two locks on my pelican case

@AfricaHunting.com ,

Jerome, I think an AH decal may look good on this case! What about you?

Decal looks pretty good to me!

Reedy,
Looks identical to a boyt case I have. I have it custom cut for my Sendero 300 RUM and have flown all over NA with it with no problems.
Cheers,
Cody

Yep. I've got a cabelas branded case, made by Boyt. Looks identical. Two trips to Africa so far with no problems.

Thanks guys!

Glad a few you of you have this exact thing, just branded different. Thanks for looking @Catahoula and @Bullthrower338 ! I figured at least 1 member here would have one!

@Ridgewalker , @Catahoula , @Bullthrower338 ,

Any of you care to share a pic of your case opened up to see what foam/how you have it situated?
I will get a pic for you as soon as I get back to Houston next week. Unfortunately I have to call elk for my buddy in Arizona instead of fight traffic and work! Sure sucks but somebody has to do it.lol
Cheers,
Cody

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
