Folks the Wife and I are headed to England this week for her Birthday and some sight seeing then off to hunt Muntjac and CWD, any advice on tipping in Great Britian?

Bob,
I don't know about customary tipping, but that hunt is high on my list! Can't wait for your report and pictures!
Cheers,
Cody

Thanks be back with a full report in November.

bob in restaurants if its not included then 10% is fine as long as you are happy with the service. in bars the staff dont expect a tip each time you buy a drink, but appreciate it if you do leave something, doesnt work on percentages with this , so just what you feel like . just dont ruin it by over tipping being from that side of the ocean.....;)

above correct, ask if "service"is included in bill, if so no tip, unless you want to. No "service" included, tip.
(1) make sure your have a ATM card with a chip, some of the ATM are now requiring them, others still Mag strip no problem, if you need some pounds
(2) Credit Card with Chip, pay for everything you can with a card, you will get the credit card exchange rate, and a lot of cards now have no exchange "fee"
(3) Uber works great in London and surrounds, and by paying with app, you will get the exchange rate of your credit card. If you link your AMEX card, you will get double MR points and you can also link your Starwood hotels account and get hotel points, plus double points if staying at a Starwood property and using Uber.
(4) Get the Heathrow express app for your phone, you can purchase your ticket that way and if you also sign up for Heathrow rewards earn some BA or Emirates miles too, if staying in London.

Thanks I take it the hunting tip works a lot like Africa.

My opinion of london/england is that the food isnt so good nor is the service. Public transportation i.e the tube and railways is very good, clean safe and timely. Uber is great around london and if you are coming into heathrow and heading into london i would use a car hire service like Blackberry cost if I remember right about 35pounds and driver will be waiting for you no messing around it is price fixed airport to hotel. way better than messing around with heathrow express into london then having to haul around luggage change to the tube etc. taxi is like 75-80pounds some Blackberry way better. where are you staying? PM me we were just here for 2 weeks if you want any advice.

Thanks sounds good have to check out BlackBerry never heard of them please send info if you have it. We will be staying at the Phoenix Hotel for the first couple days then we get picked up and head out for Norfolk for 4 days hunting muntjac and CWD.

Good info guys!

Have a great hunt Bob. Look forward to hearing about it.

Bob, Blackberrycars.com they are online they are a lic. carhire company in london you go online book online they meet and greet in airport and take you straight to your hotel and you will be in SW1 sector aka downtown westminster district kennsinton park area. It is nice area. You dont have to pay them upfront I pd cash in pounds when they dropped us at hotel, get some cash from atm in heathrow you will need some anyhow. lots of trafic in london so will take 45min to get to your hotel. I tipped the guy 5pds as he was promp couteous good service. Also get oyster card to ride the tube, busses and DLR system doesnt take cash they are the london version of subway cards like NYC. tours of buckingham palace ended oct 1 dont know about windsor castle? Dont bother visiting holland &holland what a rude bunch of arrogant SOB'S no wonder they went bankrupt and were bought up by the french channel company!
enjoy want a report i dint get to hunt at all was trip for wife to repay her for my africa;)
