It still amazes me how fast and how far this warthog jumped the string

Although you need no introduction for me TJ, please introduce yourself in a thread.

Welcome to AH.

That is an incredible reaction. I always think that Impala are about the quickest to jump, but that Warthog must have had some practice with other arrows being let loose on his brethren.

Thanks for sharing the video. I know you will have plenty more.

Welcome to AH Sheephunter

warthog are renown string jumpers. I rarely advise anyone to shoot them further than 30m

And here's the rest of the story.

Congrats on a nice trophy.

Great end result!

Wow, I've had deer that ducked under the arrow's path as they gathered themselves to take their first jump but I've never seen anything jump FORWARD out of the way. That's unreal.

Yes. the arrow ended up quite far back but thanks to a couple good tracking dogs it was a relatively short follow up.

I'm surprised, I didn't think any type of pig would react that fast. As you stated the pig was hit a little far back but some of that may have been due to the original point of aim. Regardless, it wound up being a nice trophy.

We've watched the video many times in slow motion and had the warthog not jumped forward, I'd say the shot would have been perfect. I still can't believe how far he jumped ahead. It was a good lesson!

No joke about these springy pigs! My son took a shot at one that was down on its knees. The warthog went vertical and the arrow slipped under it harmlessly. They are deceptively fast!

Haha...they sure don't look that athletic!

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
